Celebrities don't do Halloween by halves. The stars people remember turn cartoon characters, pop idols, film scenes and even a bag of snacks into full head-to-toe looks, and that is good news for anyone dressing up on a normal budget, because the hard design work is already done. Below are 30 of the famous ones: big transformations, couple and group themes, glamorous tributes and a few pure jokes. For each I've written how I'd rebuild it from thrift-store clothing, simple makeup, a decent wig and light accessories. You won't copy Heidi Klum's prosthetics or Beyoncé's wardrobe team, and you don't need to. What carries a celebrity costume across a room is its shape and its colors, and those are cheap.

When Nobody at the Party Gets the Reference
Every costume here is a double reference: a famous person dressed as a famous thing. At a party, most people will read the second layer and never the first. That's fine for Jessica Rabbit or Marge, who stand up on their own. It's a real problem for Toni Braxton's album cover, Pamela Anderson's red carpet or the Toxic uniform, where the costume only makes sense if people know the original image.
For those, I build in one clue that does the explaining: the mock album cover, the toy microphone, the little rolling suitcase. Keep a photo of the original saved on your phone, too. Nobody minds being shown it, and it ends the guessing in a second.
Couple and group costumes have a cheaper fix. Stay close together. Shrek without Fiona is just a green man, and one Ninja Turtle on his own is a person in a green hoodie.
1. Heidi Klum Worm Costume

Heidi Klum's giant worm from 2022 is still one of the strangest, most committed celebrity transformations anyone has pulled off. A wearable version keeps the joke and lets you move. Start with a long brown tunic or oversized sweatshirt over matching leggings, then add lightweight foam rings around the body, each wrapped in tan, rust or brown fabric. I stitch the rings to the sweatshirt rather than gluing them, because glued foam peels away the first time you sit down. Leave the arms free. Tuck the hair under a fitted brown hood, put rosy makeup around an oval face opening, and wear brown sneakers so the feet disappear into the base. A partner in overalls, rubber boots, a bucket hat and a toy fishing rod turns it into a scene.
2. Heidi Klum And Tom Kaulitz Shrek Couple Costume

Few celebrity couple costumes are as complete as Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz as Princess Fiona and Shrek in 2018. Fiona gets a floor-length emerald velvet dress, a long red braided wig, soft green face makeup, pointed ogre ears and comfortable brown flats, plus a small gold crown, which is what tells people she's royalty and not just green. Shrek needs a cream tunic, brown vest, plaid trousers, dark boots, green makeup and a bald cap with matching ears. Buy one green face paint and share it. Two different products almost never match, and a mismatched pair of ogres looks like an accident in photos. Skip the professional prosthetics; a plush donkey or a basket labeled for swamp snacks is all the prop you need.
3. Heidi Klum Jessica Rabbit Costume

Heidi Klum's 2015 Jessica Rabbit proved that one color pairing can carry a whole costume. Look for a red sequined maxi with a side slit and a structured neckline, close-fitting but not so tight you can't climb stairs. Long purple opera gloves and purple pumps, or lower block heels, do the rest of the color work. The wig has to be big and swept over one eye in soft waves; I anchor that fall of hair at the temple with a hidden bobby pin so it stays put without the wearer pushing it back all night. Lavender shadow, winged liner, arched brows, rosy cheeks and glossy red lips finish the face. Don't chase the prosthetics. The cartoon proportions come from hair, gloves and sequins, and sequins need light, so this one is at its best indoors. A vintage silver microphone makes the prop.
4. Kim Kardashian Mystique Costume

Kim Kardashian's 2022 Mystique was bright blue and sculpted texture on a sleek superhero line. Start with a long-sleeved blue bodysuit, or a fitted blue top with matching leggings, and attach lightweight navy foam shapes or fabric scales across the shoulders, waist and hips. Craft foam scales take fabric paint well but crack along a crease, so keep them off the elbows and the bend of the hip. Use skin-safe blue makeup only on what shows, set it with powder, and slick the hair under a vivid red wig with a clean center part. Yellow contact lenses are optional and only with a fitting from an eye doctor; never wear a borrowed pair. Dark blue ankle boots, an upright stance, and setting powder in your bag for touch-ups. You get the character without the latex process the original used.
5. Kim Kardashian And North West Clueless Costume

Kim Kardashian and North West's 2023 Cher and Dionne from Clueless is a tidy template for a parent-and-child pair. Cher wears a yellow plaid blazer and matching pleated skirt over a white top, knee-high white socks, black Mary Janes, a mini backpack and long straight blonde hair. Dionne gets a black-and-white plaid blazer and skirt, a red cardigan, knee socks, black shoes, long braids and the oversized black-and-white hat. Matching plaid sets are hard to thrift, so I buy plaid fabric, sew simple pleated skirts and then hunt for any blazer in a close color. Keep a child's makeup to a pink lip and a touch of blush, and hand both of them toy cell phones. The outfits share the same preppy structure and differ only in color, which is why the pair also reads together on siblings or friends.
6. Beyoncé Toni Braxton Costume

Beyoncé's 2018 Toni Braxton recreated the singer's self-titled debut album cover, and it is one of the easiest costumes here to build. A white tank tucked into relaxed, high-waisted light-wash jeans, a wide brown belt, and dark shoes or ankle boots. Everything hangs on the short black pixie wig, cut close to the head with feathered ends. Cheap pixie wigs sit too high on the crown, so I thin the bulk at the nape and pin the sides down until it hugs the head the way the cover does. Neutral makeup, sculpted brows, brown lip liner and small gold earrings. Carry a square mock album cover. Without it, strangers just see a woman in jeans.
7. Beyoncé And Jay-Z Barbie Family Costume

Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Blue Ivy's 2016 doll theme is a family costume that comes down to the boxes. Beyoncé's vintage doll is a striped black-and-white bodysuit (or a fitted top and shorts), a high ponytail, cat-eye sunglasses, red lipstick and black pumps. Ken wears a black tuxedo, white shirt, bow tie, polished shoes and a shaggy dark wig, and a child coordinates in a sparkly pink dress, ballet flats and a neat ponytail. The real build is the packaging: lightweight cardboard frames painted pink, with the printed name labels on the frames rather than the clothing. I cut them as open three-sided frames hung from a shoulder strap. A closed box catches in every doorway, and no kid keeps carrying one past the third house.
8. Kylie Jenner Bride Of Frankenstein Costume

Kylie Jenner's 2022 Bride of Frankenstein set dramatic black-and-white hair against a soft bridal silhouette. Start with a floor-length white gown with gathered or draped fabric, a white shawl over the shoulders, and white boots or hidden flats. The towering black wig carries the costume. I build the height by backcombing the wig over a foam cone pinned underneath, which holds through a long night far better than hairspray alone. Add the white lightning streaks with temporary color spray or clip-in extensions. Light pale foundation, smoky gray eyes, defined brows and muted plum lipstick, with a small bouquet of dried-looking artificial white flowers. Leave out the distressing and gore. The hair and the monochrome palette already say who she is, and this is the one to pick if you want glamour more than theatre.
9. Kylie Jenner Christina Aguilera Costume

Kylie Jenner's 2016 tribute to Christina Aguilera's “Dirrty” era is a costume I'd adapt rather than copy. For a version you can wear in public, layer a red-and-white striped cropped tank over a full-length black camisole, then add black cargo pants with red panels, a wide belt and black combat boots. A long platinum wig with dark lowlights, thin front braids and loose waves dates it to the era. Braid those front pieces with the wig on a stand, not on your head; braiding synthetic hair while you're wearing it pulls the whole wig crooked. Smoky eyes, strong liner, defined brows, bronzed cheeks and a glossy neutral lip. Fingerless gloves, hoops and a few light silver chains give the early-2000s feel without weighing you down. Practice the dance-video pose, because that's what makes people say her name.
10. Lizzo Marge Simpson Costume

Lizzo's 2022 Marge Simpson is cartoon color from head to toe. A lime-green midi dress, strapless or short-sleeved, goes over matching green tights, with a fitted green top underneath if strapless isn't practical. Add red flats or low heels and a chunky red bead necklace. The cobalt-blue tower is the costume, so choose a lightweight foam or fiber version and pin it at several points around the hairline. A tall wig levers off the back of the head the moment you turn quickly. Yellow face and body paint can go on sparingly, or swap in yellow gloves and warm golden makeup for an easier cleanup. Blue mascara, simple black liner and a small reusable grocery bag. Four flat colors, all readable from across the room.
11. Hailey Bieber Britney Spears Schoolgirl Costume

In 2021 Hailey Bieber honored several Britney Spears eras, including the schoolgirl from “…Baby One More Time.” The pieces are ordinary: a white button-down, gray cardigan, black pleated skirt, knee-high charcoal socks, black Mary Janes, a small backpack and a fuzzy hair accessory. I always put a full-coverage white tank under the tied shirt; it keeps the outfit comfortable at a party and nobody notices it. Two high braided pigtails with pink ribbons, from a blonde wig or your own hair, and soft pink shadow, mascara, rosy blush and glossy lips. Because every item is plain, proportion is what sells it. Socks pulled right up, skirt short and full, pigtails set high on the head. Get those wrong and it's just a school uniform with a notebook.
12. Paris Hilton Britney Spears Flight Attendant Costume

Paris Hilton wore Britney Spears' blue flight attendant uniform from the “Toxic” video in 2023. A fitted royal-blue midi dress, or a blue blazer over a knee-length skirt, is the base. Run white piping along the seams with removable fabric tape so you can peel it off afterward and keep wearing the dress. Blue gloves, silver heels, a slim matching neck scarf and a structured blue cap finish the uniform. If you make the cap from felt, back the crown with stiff interfacing, or it slumps by the end of the night. Smooth blonde updo with face-framing pieces, frosted silver shadow, black liner, glowing skin and glossy pink lips. A small silver rolling suitcase is the obvious prop, and it holds your phone and keys too.
13. Cardi B Medusa Costume

Cardi B's Medusa turned a myth into a sparkly green statement. An emerald maxi dress or a metallic green bodysuit makes the base, with a scale-patterned cape or overskirt for movement. For the snakes, I fix small rubber snakes to a sturdy green headband with a flexible craft adhesive instead of working them into the hair; the whole crown lifts off in one piece at the end of the night. Rubber snakes are heavier than they look, so use a wide band and keep the count modest. A long black or dark green wig adds drama. Shimmering green shadow, gold liner, bronzed cheeks and glossy neutral lips, then metallic arm cuffs and green ankle boots. A coiled plush snake is a light prop. Play it confident rather than scary.
14. Cardi B Jessica Rabbit Costume

Cardi B did her own Jessica Rabbit in 2024, and it's worth comparing with Heidi's. Look for a red sequined gown with a sweetheart neckline, a side slit and real stretch. Sequins sewn onto a non-stretch backing feel like armor after an hour, so pull the fabric sideways before you buy. Built-in straps or a matching red wrap give extra support. Purple opera gloves, red or purple heels and sparkly drop earrings. Set a copper-red wig into deep side-parted waves that fall over one eye. Lavender lids, sharp wings, long lashes, peach blush and glossy crimson lips, with a silver microphone or a little glitter clutch in hand. Lean on the color pairing and the old-Hollywood hair rather than alterations, and save it for a party where a floor-length dress makes sense.
15. The Weeknd And Bella Hadid Beetlejuice Couple Costume

The Weeknd and Bella Hadid went as Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz in 2018. He needs a black-and-white striped suit, a white shirt, a black tie, chunky black boots and a messy pale wig with faint green. Keep the white face makeup light, with smoky gray shading around the eyes instead of graphic effects. Lydia is a long red tulle dress with layered sleeves, a red veil and black or red ankle boots, plus black hair in a slightly spiky half-up style with short bangs, burgundy lips and smudged liner. Striped suits are rare secondhand. I'd paint the stripes onto a cheap white suit with fabric paint and masking tape, letting each stripe dry fully before peeling. Carry an old camera or a small artificial bouquet. Stripes against flowing red tulle balance each other without a single prosthetic.
16. Lupita Nyong’o Dionne Costume

Lupita Nyong’o's 2018 Dionne Davenport is the one to study if you're doing Clueless solo. A black-and-white plaid blazer with a matching mini or knee-length skirt, a bright red cardigan over a white collared shirt for that color clash, knee-high black socks, and black platforms or comfortable loafers. Long box braids go under the oversized black-and-white hat, the accessory people recognize first. I buy that hat a size big and pad the inner band with foam tape, so it sits over the braids instead of sliding down to the eyebrows. Hoops, a mini backpack, softly defined eyes and brown-red lipstick, plus a vintage-style cell phone. If a short skirt isn't practical, plaid tailored shorts or a longer pleated skirt keep the look.
17. Margot Robbie Ginger Spice Costume

Margot Robbie's Ginger Spice took on one of the best-known stage outfits of the 1990s: a sleeveless red dress with a big white-and-blue flag panel. If you can't find one, make the panel from felt and stitch it to any plain red shift. Paint on stretch fabric cracks as soon as you pull the dress on. Fitted red shorts or opaque tights underneath give coverage. Tall red platforms are right, but block-heel ankle boots are kinder if you'll be on your feet. A long copper-red wig with blonde face-framing streaks, frosted shadow, black mascara, warm blush and brick-red lips, then a toy microphone and the peace sign. For a group, friends can split into distinct sporty, glam, sweet and sleek looks. Alone, the dress and the hair do enough.
18. Adele Morticia Addams Costume

Adele's Morticia Addams at a 2023 performance is gothic glamour kept very simple. A fitted long-sleeved black maxi with a flared hem and a little lace or velvet texture, close to the body with room to walk. Velvet is my choice here; it stays a deep true black in photos, while thin jersey can look washed-out gray under a camera flash. Black pointed flats or low heels go under the floor-length hem, with a very long, straight black wig and a sharp center part. Matte skin, cool gray shadow, precise liner, sculpted cheekbones, deep red lips and long dark nails. Hold a single artificial rose or a small black folding fan. Morticia's power is stillness, so leave out the graphic extras and keep your posture.
19. Kendall Jenner Marilyn Monroe Costume

Kendall Jenner's 2023 Marilyn Monroe skipped the white halter dress for a portrait-style look: a fitted black turtleneck, slim black cropped pants, black pumps, pearl studs and a vintage clutch. For any outdoor or chilly party I'd pick this version over the halter every time. The platinum curled wig is the key piece. Set it in short, brushed-out waves with lift around the face, and if the fiber is heat-friendly, let the curls cool completely before brushing them out or they drop flat. Matte foundation, softly arched brows, neutral lids, winged liner, rosy blush and a red lip with a sharp cupid's bow. Dot on a beauty mark with brown eyeliner. A faux magazine or a vintage-style chair makes the photos.
20. Gigi Hadid The Mask Costume

Gigi Hadid's take on The Mask paired a bright tailored suit with a full green face. Yellow blazer and wide-leg trousers over a crisp white shirt, a patterned tie, black-and-white dress shoes and a yellow fedora with a dark band. Green makeup goes evenly on the face, neck and hands, or wear green gloves and paint only the face. I take the color down to the collarbone and set it hard with powder; otherwise a white shirt collar turns green within the first hour. Slick the hair under the hat or wear a short dark wig. Black liner, sculpted brows and a huge friendly grin. A small vintage-style clock or a bright pocket square is plenty. Hem the trousers properly so you aren't stepping on them on stairs. Yellow against green is about as loud as a costume gets.
21. Janelle Monáe E.T. Costume

Janelle Monáe's 2024 E.T. was hugely detailed. A comfortable version swaps the prosthetics for layered clothing: brown leggings and a soft oversized brown tunic under a lightweight foam body panel with a rounded shape, brown gloves, padded shoe covers and a hood with large blue eyes and a gently sculpted face. Cut the face opening generously. A sculpted hood narrows what you can see to the sides, and that's exactly where kids and steps come from. For the disguise version, layer a red zip-up hoodie over the base and carry a basket with a white cloth. Soft pink makeup around the eyes blends your face into the hood. Keep every piece flexible and breathable.
22. Janelle Monáe Cat In The Hat Costume

Janelle Monáe went as the Cat in the Hat for Halloween 2025. A black jumpsuit is the easiest base, though soft black overalls work too, with a fluffy white chest panel, white gloves and black lace-up shoes. Wear a black cat-ear hood or short black wig under a tall red-and-white striped top hat. That hat is the hard part. A tall felt tube flops over, so I roll the shape from craft foam first, glue the striped fabric over it, and pin it to a headband instead of balancing it on the head. Draw a small black nose and curved whiskers with face paint and keep the rest of the face fresh. Sew the long black tail to the waistband; safety pins tear out the first time someone steps on it. A blue umbrella or a light red book makes the prop.
23. Katy Perry Cheeto Costume

Katy Perry's oversized Cheeto from 2014 is still the best proof that a snack can be a celebrity costume. Build an orange sleeveless tunic in an irregular, slightly bent shape, then cover it with soft orange fabric tufts or textured felt for the crunchy surface. Underneath go an orange long-sleeved shirt, leggings and matching sneakers. I make the tunic from quilt batting sandwiched between layers of orange fleece. It holds the lumpy shape, it's warm, and it squashes when you sit instead of cracking the way foam does. Hair under an orange hood, or a dark ponytail left out for comfort. Peach blush, orange shadow and glossy neutral lips. Carry a small bright snack bag so the joke lands, and keep the tunic above the knee with open sides so you can walk.
24. Mindy Kaling Elle Woods Costume

Mindy Kaling's Elle Woods shows how easily a film wardrobe becomes a costume you could wear to the office. A bright pink blazer with a knee-length skirt or tailored trousers, a pale pink camisole, and pink pumps or ballet flats. A long blonde wig in smooth waves with a side part, and cheerful makeup with rosy cheeks, defined lashes and glossy pink lips. Pinks rarely match across thrifted pieces, so I find the blazer first and match everything else to it in daylight, never under store lighting. The pink handbag with a plush chihuahua and a big textbook or folder with a harmless legal joke are the clues; pearl earrings and big sunglasses finish it. Take the props away and it's still a smart outfit, which is why offices and classrooms are fine with it. Stand like you've already won the case.
25. Harry Styles Elton John Costume

Harry Styles wore Elton John's sparkly 1975 baseball stadium outfit for Halloween in 2018. Start with a white sequined baseball jacket with blue sleeves and colored stars, and white pants trimmed with blue stripes or rhinestones. Comfortable blue-and-white sneakers beat performance platforms. The glasses and cap carry it: oversized glittering frames and a blue baseball cap covered in crystals or silver craft gems. Hot glue holds gems on a cap only until the fabric flexes, so I use a flexible fabric glue and leave it to cure overnight. Soft curls around the cap, light foundation, a little shimmer around the eyes and clear balm. Add a toy microphone, and a removable cape if you want movement. The sporty base is what lets you wear it through a concert or a long night.
26. Megan Fox Pamela Anderson Costume

Megan Fox recreated Pamela Anderson's 1990s red-carpet style in that pink-and-red combination. The original was a latex-look midi. I steer most people toward stretch fabric with contrasting panels instead, because real latex is hot, needs a dressing aid to get on, and tears on a fingernail. Clear or neutral heels, silver hoops and a small metallic bag. A platinum wig in a high, deliberately messy updo with long curled pieces around the face. Smoky brown shadow, thin arched brows, heavy mascara, warm lip liner and pale pink lipstick. A partner in a white tank, dark pants, black boots and a long dark wig makes it the famous rock couple. Keep every piece secure; the hair and the two-tone dress carry it without props.
27. Rihanna Ninja Turtles Group Costume

Rihanna and her friends did a streetwear take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 2014, and it's one of the easiest group costumes to scale up. Everyone wears a green long-sleeved top, green leggings or cargo pants and matching sneakers, with a light brown foam shell on the back and a yellow padded chest panel in front. Each person gets one color for eye mask, belt, wristbands and knee pads: red, blue, orange or purple. Cut every shell from one paper template so the group matches. If four people each improvise, you get four different turtles. Green face makeup is optional; a little green shadow around the mask is easier. Pizza-box props beat character weapons, and ponytails, braids or green caps keep it sporty.
28. Neil Patrick Harris Wizard Of Oz Family Costume

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka dressed the whole family, twins included, in a Wizard of Oz theme in 2012. Dorothy has a blue gingham dress, white blouse, braided pigtails, red shoes and a basket with a plush dog. The Scarecrow wears a plaid shirt, patched trousers, brown boots, straw-colored yarn and a floppy hat. The Tin Man gets silver clothing, silver makeup, a funnel hat and gray sneakers, and the Cowardly Lion a tan sweatsuit, a soft mane hood, gloves and brown shoes. Go easy on silver makeup for a child; metallic paint sits heavy and itches, and a silver beanie with a dab on the nose and cheeks reads just as well. Yarn beats real raffia for the straw, which sheds over everything. For the photo, stand in character order so the story reads left to right.
29. Kelsea Ballerini And Chase Stokes Grease Couple Costume

Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes went as Sandy and Danny from Grease in 2024. Sandy's final-scene look is a fitted black off-the-shoulder top over a secure camisole, high-waisted black pants, a cropped black jacket, and red heels or flats. The pants are where I'd spend: they need a shine, because matte black leggings make it look like a gym outfit. Blonde hair in big curls, winged liner and red lipstick. Danny wears a black T-shirt, black jeans, a leather-look jacket and polished black shoes, with dark hair slicked back using temporary gel. A vintage record or a dance-program prop sets the 1950s. All that black ties the couple together, and Sandy's red accents and curls keep them distinct in full-length photos.
30. Selena Gomez And Benny Blanco Alice In Wonderland Costume

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco did Alice in Wonderland as a couple in 2024. Alice wears a pale blue knee-length dress with puffed sleeves, a white apron, white tights and black Mary Janes, with a black headband on long soft brunette waves, rosy makeup and pink lipstick. The Mad Hatter gets patterned trousers, a colorful waistcoat, a long coat, striped socks, lace-ups and an oversized top hat trimmed with ribbon and a card in the band. Cut that card from heavy cardstock; plain paper goes soft in damp air and droops by midnight. A curly orange wig and playful peach eye makeup finish him. A teacup and a small pocket watch are light enough to carry all evening. The plain blue dress against all that layered tailoring keeps the pair balanced.
Getting a Costume Wig to Look Like Real Hair
Count the costumes above where the hair is the costume: two Jessica Rabbits, Marge, the Toni Braxton pixie, Morticia, Marilyn, Ginger Spice, the Bride of Frankenstein. If the wig looks like it just came out of the bag, no dress will rescue it. This is what I do to every costume wig before it goes on a head.
- Shake it out, then comb with a wide-tooth comb from the ends upward, holding the hair above the section you're working on so you don't pull fibers out of the cap.
- Thin the bulk. Cheap wigs are cut thick at the nape and long at the fringe, and that heaviness is what makes them read as costume hair.
- Check the fiber before using heat. Standard synthetic fiber frizzes or melts under a curling iron; only heat-friendly fiber can be styled hot, and then on a low setting.
- Wear a wig cap and pin through it at the temples and nape. Tall styles like Marge or the Bride need extra pins, because the weight sits above your head and pulls backward.
- Dust a little dry shampoo along the parting to knock back the plastic shine, which is the first thing a camera flash picks up.
If you'd rather use your own hair, the sleek styles are the easiest to fake. Slicked-back hair covers Danny, and a sharp middle part with a few clip-in lengths gets you most of the way to Morticia.
Green, Blue and Yellow Skin Without Wrecking Your Clothes
Shrek and Fiona, Mystique, Marge, The Mask and the Tin Man all ask for colored skin, and that's where celebrity costume nights usually go wrong: color on every collar, a patchy forehead by ten o'clock, irritated skin the next morning.
Putting it on
- Patch-test any face or body paint on the inside of your wrist a day ahead. Redness or itching means it stays off your face.
- Use products made for skin, water-activated or cream. Craft and acrylic paint don't belong on faces.
- Start on clean, moisturized skin that isn't oily, and build thin layers with a damp sponge. One thick coat cracks the first time you laugh.
- Press translucent setting powder over each layer, then mist lightly. Powdered paint transfers far less onto shirts, partners and sofas.
Getting it off
Dress only after the paint is set, and tuck a dark scarf or a tissue into your collar on the way there. At the end of the night, break the paint down with an oil cleanser or baby oil before you wash. Scrubbing with soap alone drags the pigment around and leaves a tinted ghost. Blue and green are the slowest to leave, so take your time around the hairline and ears, and wash any cotton that picked up color in cold water soon after.
The Three I'd Make on a Thrift Budget
Look back over all thirty and the pattern is plain: these costumes are remembered for a wig, a color pairing, a silhouette and one prop, not for what anyone spent. Copy those and the reference comes through. Pick light materials and shoes you can stand in, especially if you're adapting one of the big transformations for trick-or-treating. If I had to start somewhere, I'd make Beyoncé's Toni Braxton for a solo night, Cher and Dionne for two people, and the Turtles for a group, because all three come mostly from clothes you can find secondhand. Adjust hems, coverage and makeup to suit yourself. The reference survives as long as its key signal stays.
