By the final stretch of pregnancy, getting dressed is a physical task as much as a style choice. The bump sits further forward, feet swell by evening, and anything that presses under the ribs or across the hips becomes hard to tolerate for a full day. In my fittings for these last months I look at three things: where the waistband lands, how the fabric moves when you sit, and whether you can put the shoes on without help. Every one of the twenty outfits below passes those checks, and they cover work, errands, showers and cold days.

Getting Dressed Without Bending in Half
By week 30 or so, putting on socks or tights can feel like a stretch class. Your center of gravity has moved forward, and bending at the waist pushes straight into the bump. I plan third-trimester outfits around a few habits that make mornings easier.
- Sit on the edge of the bed to put on anything below the knee, and cross one ankle over the other knee rather than reaching down.
- Step into dresses and jumpsuits instead of pulling them over the head when you can; it's easier on the arms and the back.
- Keep slip-on shoes by the door: mules, slides, elastic-sided boots, sneakers with elastic laces.
- Lay out tomorrow's outfit the night before. Late-pregnancy fatigue is real, and the fewer choices at 7 a.m. the better.
None of this is glamorous, but it's the difference between an outfit you wear and one that stays in the closet because it's too much effort to get into.
1. Maternity Leggings and Oversized Sweater

Nothing beats buttery-soft maternity leggings on the days when the bump feels heavy and nothing else fits. I always choose the over-the-belly panel in the third trimester. Under-bump bands tend to roll down as the belly drops, and you spend the day hitching them up. An oversized cream or oatmeal sweater falls past the hips without clinging, and a long pendant draws a vertical line down the middle. Chunky white sneakers, a messy bun and small gold hoops finish it for coffee runs and prenatal appointments.
2. Maternity Wrap Dress

A wrap dress earns its place because the tie can be moved and tightened as your body changes week to week. The V-neck draws attention up to the face, which helps in photos when you're feeling all bump. Pick a midi in soft jersey or ribbed knit with real stretch; a woven wrap dress won't give enough. Jewel tones like emerald or burgundy look polished with little effort. Low block-heel mules or ballet flats, a structured crossbody in a neutral and stud earrings carry it from a work meeting to dinner.
3. Maternity Overalls

Overalls are one of the most comfortable things to wear in late pregnancy, because the weight hangs from the shoulders and nothing sits at the waist. Soft denim or stretch twill maternity overalls with side buttons let you open up room as the bump grows. A fitted striped long-sleeve underneath contrasts with the vertical straps. White leather sneakers or canvas slip-ons, slightly rolled cuffs, a canvas tote and a cap keep it relaxed. The one drawback: straps and buttons slow down bathroom trips, which come often now.
4. Maternity Jumpsuit

A one-piece jumpsuit saves you from coordinating separates when bending feels like a workout. Look for stretchy knit or jersey with a smocked bodice or empire waist that sits above the bump; a waist seam across the middle of the belly will ride up. Wide legs balance the proportion and let air move on warm days. A sleeveless olive or black style takes accessories well. Throw a cropped denim jacket over the shoulders, slip into flat sandals or espadrilles, and add sunglasses and a woven clutch for a baby shower or a weekend afternoon.
5. Maternity Sweater Dress

For a winter third trimester, a sweater dress is the outfit I'd build the week around. Rib or cable knit that ends just below the knee skims the bump without pulling. A turtleneck in charcoal or camel keeps you warm, but if you're running hot, which is common now, a crew or V-neck is easier. Add an open longline cardigan, opaque maternity tights and knee-high flat boots with a side zip, since pulling on boots is hard over a bump. A wool hat and leather satchel finish it.
6. Maternity Blazer and Pants

You can wear proper tailoring in the third trimester as long as the blazer stays open. Start with over-the-belly maternity trousers in stretchy ponte; black or navy keeps it smart. A fitted long-sleeve tee or light cashmere crewneck smooths over the bump. Then an oversized boyfriend blazer, worn open, frames the shape without closing over it. Pointed flats or low kitten heels are office-appropriate and kind to swollen feet. A fine chain and structured tote finish it, and it holds up from the meeting room to after-work drinks.
7. Maternity Maxi Dress

A flowing maxi is the summer third-trimester uniform. Empire or A-line cuts in cotton, modal or rayon leave the bump plenty of room and keep air moving. A soft floral or watercolor print hides the creases you get from sitting. Watch the hem on stairs; when you can't see your feet, a long skirt is easy to step on. Flat strappy sandals or cushioned slides, a denim jacket over the shoulders for evenings, a straw hat and a roomy tote finish it.
8. Maternity Jeans and Tunic

Good maternity jeans with an over-the-belly panel can make you feel normal again when your old denim is a memory. I prefer slim or straight leg in a medium wash. A long tunic in modal or a rayon blend that falls to mid-thigh covers the panel and the hips. Side slits or a curved hem stop the fabric pulling across your seat when you sit. Pointed flats or low-heel booties lengthen the leg, and a light scarf, quilted crossbody and drop earrings make it lunch-ready.
9. Maternity Bodycon Dress

A bodycon dress is for the moments you want the bump front and center. A midi ribbed knit with side ruching stretches with you and keeps a contoured shape; without the ruching, plain bodycon can ride up at the front as the belly grows. Taupe, black or burgundy all work. A longline utility jacket or cropped moto adds some edge. Low-top sneakers or flat ankle boots, a low bun, a gold cuff and a leather backpack finish it for photos or a casual dinner.
10. Maternity Linen Pants Outfit

When summer heat and swollen ankles arrive together, linen pants are a relief. Choose wide-leg maternity linen with a soft under-belly band that won't roll. A fitted ribbed tank in white or cream sits above the band and shows the bump, balancing the loose leg. Linen creases from the first time you sit and relaxes as the day goes on, so don't fight it. Woven leather sandals or espadrille flats, a straw circle bag and round sunglasses keep it light for brunch or a beach walk.
11. Maternity Cardigan and Dress

A long cardigan over a plain dress is one of the easiest ways to look dressed when you have no energy to plan. Start with a soft cotton or jersey tank dress in heathered grey or blush that skims without clinging. An open oatmeal or camel cardigan adds long vertical lines down each side. Cushioned ballet flats or low block-heel sandals in nude, a long pendant and a roomy leather tote complete it. It works for a prenatal yoga class and coffee afterward.
12. Maternity Shirt Dress

A shirt dress gives structure without a waistband, which is rare in the third trimester. Choose a relaxed cotton or chambray style with a self-tie belt you can tie above the bump for an empire shape. Check the buttons across the belly before buying: if they gape when you sit, size up, because tension there only gets worse. Rolled three-quarter sleeves, white sneakers or tan slides, a woven belt bag worn crossbody and tortoiseshell sunglasses keep it casual Friday to weekend errands.
13. Maternity Ribbed Knit Dress

A ribbed knit dress is soft, stretchy and forgiving on a body that changes weekly. A sleeveless midi in charcoal, olive or sand adapts as the bump grows, the vertical rib lengthens the line, and side slits at the hem let you walk freely. Rib does show underwear lines, so wear smooth pieces underneath. A boxy cropped jacket or soft shacket handles cooler days. White leather sneakers keep it sporty, flat mules dress it up, and a watch, small hoops and a shoulder bag keep it clean.
14. Maternity Two Piece Set

Matching sets remove one decision from the morning, which counts for a lot this late on. A coordinated knit set, a relaxed long-sleeve top with wide-leg pants in ribbed jersey, looks considered in oatmeal, sage or soft black. The pull-on pants need a wide over-the-belly panel so they don't look slouchy. White platform sneakers and a sleek puffer vest add structure; a vest leaves the arms free and doesn't need to close over the bump the way a jacket would. A cap, gold hoops and a large canvas tote finish it for travel days.
15. Maternity Off Shoulder Dress

An off-shoulder dress adds a romantic note to late pregnancy. A midi or maxi in soft jersey or smocked cotton with an elastic neckline that stays put is the version I trust. Solid blush, dusty blue or classic black keeps it refined, and the cut shows off the collarbone above the bump. Dainty heeled sandals or embellished flats, a slim clutch, sparkly drops and soft waves make it dressy enough for a shower, photos or a special dinner. If the elastic slips when you raise your arms, try a size down at the bust only.
16. Maternity Biker Shorts and Sweatshirt

Maternity biker shorts and an oversized sweatshirt are for the days when only soft fabric will do. Choose black shorts with a supportive over-the-belly panel, and a roomy crewneck in a faded wash or bold color block. Shorts can rub between the thighs on hot days as weight changes, so I'd pick a length that reaches mid-thigh or lower. Chunky crew socks, platform sneakers, a nylon belt bag and a thick headband finish it for walks, coffee pickups or a day at home.
17. Maternity Wide Leg Pants Outfit

Wide-leg trousers give you a change from leggings and a different shape for a few days. Choose flowy crepe or soft woven fabric with an over-the-belly panel or a comfortable under-bump waist. A fitted scoop-neck tank or short-sleeve knit balances the volume below; a slight tuck above the bump marks the waistline. Flat mules or sleek sneakers, a structured tote, layered pendants and a blazer over the shoulders make it work for a creative office or brunch.
18. Maternity Denim Jacket Outfit

A denim jacket is the layer I come back to most in the third trimester, because it adds structure and never has to close. Start with a soft floral midi or a solid tank dress in stretch jersey, and wear an oversized light-wash jacket open over it. Size the jacket for your shoulders, not your bump, or the sleeves will hang past your hands. White canvas sneakers or tan leather slides, a canvas tote with a silk scarf on the handle and tortoiseshell hoops suit transitional weather.
19. Maternity Tunic and Leggings

A long tunic over leggings looks a step more finished than a tee. Choose cotton maternity leggings with full belly coverage, and a printed or solid tunic in fluid fabric that reaches mid-thigh. A gentle V-neck or a little embroidery is what lifts it above loungewear. Cotton leggings bag at the knees by afternoon, so a cotton blend with some elastane holds shape longer. Ballet flats or cushioned loafers, a long pendant, a wrap scarf and a leather crossbody finish it for travel days.
20. Maternity Babydoll Dress

A babydoll dress floats away from the body, so the bump has room without any pressure. Its empire waistline sits just under the bust, which is the most comfortable seam placement in late pregnancy. Choose lightweight cotton or rayon, in a floral or soft solid, with puff or ruffled cap sleeves. Because the front hem lifts over a big bump, buy one that reaches the knee at the back so it doesn't look too short in front. Flat sandals or white sneakers, a woven crossbody and fine layered necklaces suit a picnic or casual shower.
Late Pregnancy Runs Hot, So Dress for It
Blood volume rises a great deal during pregnancy and the body works harder, so many people feel warm even in mild weather by the third trimester. That changes what I'd pick from the list above.
Fabrics that breathe
Cotton, linen, modal and rayon let heat and moisture escape. Polyester jersey and thick ponte trap them, which is fine for a cool office but miserable on a summer afternoon. Check the label before you buy, not only the feel.
Layers you can take off
Open cardigans, denim jackets and vests beat turtlenecks and fitted pullovers, because you can remove them in seconds when a room gets stuffy. For winter, I'd rather stack two thin layers than one heavy sweater. Under-bust sweat is common now too, so a soft cotton bralette or a band that wicks moisture is worth more than any new top.
Night sweats are common in these weeks too, so I'd keep cotton or bamboo sleepwear in the drawer and save satin pajamas for later. On hot days, a loose cotton dress beats any matching set, and a small hand fan in your bag is more useful than another accessory.
If It Pinches, It's Out
The third trimester brings enough challenges without your clothes adding to them. Build the last weeks around a handful of pieces that never press: over-the-belly leggings, one wrap or babydoll dress, a sweater dress or maxi for the season, an open layer and shoes you can step into. Add the blazer or the off-shoulder dress for the days that need more. There are no hard rules this late. If something digs, pinches or makes you hold your breath to sit, take it out of the rotation.
