Riley's emotions make costume planning easy, because each one is basically a single bold color with a personality attached. Below you'll find the original five emotions, the newer characters from the sequel, Riley's family, her imaginary friends, and ideas for pairs and groups. The first film centers on Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, and the sequel adds Anxiety, Envy, Ennui and Embarrassment as Riley grows up. For each look I've given a clothing base, hair or wig, makeup, props and shoes you can actually walk in. Most of them come together from thrifted clothes, simple craft supplies and colorful makeup, with no expensive custom pieces needed.

Thrifting by Color Instead of by Garment
Every emotion is built on one dominant color, so I shop by color first and garment second. Walk the thrift racks looking only for the right shade of yellow, blue or purple, and you'll find a sweater, a dress or trousers that fit the character far faster than hunting for one specific item.
Check each piece in daylight before you buy. Store lighting makes teal look blue and lavender look gray, and two pieces that matched indoors can clash in photos. When the shades don't quite match, push them apart rather than closer: a slightly darker bottom with a lighter top looks deliberate, while two nearly identical blues look like a mistake.
When dyeing beats buying
A white cotton tee or sweatshirt takes fabric dye well and gives you an exact shade, which helps for the trickier colors like Envy's mint or Ennui's deep purple. Polyester resists ordinary dye, so check the label first. Wash any dyed piece on its own a couple of times before wearing it, or it may bleed onto your skin and tights on a warm night.
1. Joy Cosplay With Yellow Dress

Joy is the one most people want, and the dress is what makes her. Choose a sleeveless yellow fit-and-flare dress that hits around the knee, then paint or stitch small blue flower shapes across it. Fabric paint stays flexible on cotton; on a shiny polyester dress it cracks, so I'd cut the flowers from felt and tack them on instead. Opaque yellow tights deepen the color. A short, choppy blue wig gives you her hair, and pale yellow face makeup with shimmery blue eyes finishes the cartoon effect. For the memory orb, put a battery tea light inside a clear plastic craft ball. Blue flats or low sneakers keep you comfortable, and a yellow top with a matching skirt is a quicker swap for the dress.
2. Sadness Cosplay With Blue Sweater

Sadness is the comfiest emotion to wear for a long day. Begin with an oversized pale blue turtleneck sweater and dark blue leggings or relaxed trousers, plus navy flats or blue slip-ons. Size up two sizes on that sweater; the slump is the character, and a fitted sweater just looks like a blue sweater. A chin-length blue bob with a side part and big round black glasses without lenses carry the face. Light blue face makeup is the strongest version, but cool-toned foundation and powder work too if you'd rather not paint. Keep the navy around the eyes soft. A blue memory orb or a small tissue box is all the prop you need.
3. Anger Cosplay With Shirt And Tie

Anger comes almost entirely from the closet. Wear a short-sleeve white button-down with brown or charcoal trousers and a wide red tie, and add a zigzag pattern to the tie with fabric paint or yellow ribbon. Red face makeup, heavy dark brows and matte red lips do the rest. For his blocky head, a squared red foam headpiece works, with layered red, orange and yellow craft foam flames on top. Craft foam takes a gentle bend from a hair dryer, which is how I'd get the flames to curl rather than stand flat. Carry a clipboard of fairness complaints instead of anything aggressive. Brown loafers, neatly rolled sleeves and a crossed-arm pose read as Anger even without the face paint.
4. Fear Cosplay With Purple Vest

Fear is a thrift-store treasure hunt. You're looking for a pale blue dress shirt, a purple bow tie, navy trousers and a black-and-white houndstooth sweater vest; the vest is the hardest find, so look in the men's section first. Add a narrow purple belt or suspenders to stretch out his lanky shape. Style a tall purple wig upward with flexible hairspray, or fix purple felt hair shapes to a comfortable headband. Lavender face makeup, raised brows and soft shading under the eyes give the worried look without being scary. Carry a safety checklist, a small flashlight or a foam warning sign. Slightly oversized pieces and jittery hands sell the cartoon proportions.
5. Disgust Cosplay With Green Dress

Disgust is polished: green dress, purple accents, raised eyebrow. Choose a sleeveless green A-line dress with a narrow belt, wrap a light purple scarf at the neck, and wear purple tights with matching flats or block heels. A shoulder-length green wig with flipped ends gives you her hair, or use temporary green hair wax on short hair. Wax rubs off on collars and pillowcases, so I'd keep it to an evening and wear something you don't mind staining. Green face makeup is optional; purple shadow, long lashes, arched brows and berry lips are the parts that matter. A compact mirror or a piece of fake broccoli is the easy joke. Choose breathable fabric, because a wig, scarf, tights and makeup together get warm indoors.
6. Anxiety Cosplay With Striped Sweater

Anxiety's orange catches the eye in any crowd. Wear a burnt-orange sweater with thin horizontal stripes, high-waisted rust trousers and orange lace-up shoes. The wig needs to stand up in uneven sections; a cheap orange wig is usually too smooth, so I tease it at the roots with a fine comb and set it with strong hairspray, away from any heat. Light orange face makeup, freckles, high brows and smudged coral eyes are enough, with no prosthetics needed. Carry color-coded checklists, a planner and a clear orb full of orange tissue paper, all tucked into a crossbody pouch. Fingerless gloves keep long sleeves out of the way. Clasped hands and slightly hunched shoulders do the acting.
7. Envy Cosplay With Mint Dress

A mint dress is the easiest way into Envy. Look for a short A-line or skater dress with a Peter Pan collar and layer it over turquoise tights, with low mint boots or matching sneakers. Mint and turquoise are hard to match across pieces bought in different places, so I take the dress along when shopping for tights and hold them up in daylight. A short teal wig with a side-swept fringe and curled ends frames the face. Aqua face makeup is optional; green shadow, defined lashes, rosy cheeks and glossy lips give a bright finish. A tiny fashion magazine, hand mirror or teal orb hints at her love of whatever's newest. Big eyes and an eager expression matter more than any prosthetic.
8. Ennui Cosplay With Purple Tracksuit

Ennui is for anyone who wants to look like they barely tried, on purpose. Wear a deep purple tracksuit or an oversized purple sweater with loose matching pants, violet slip-ons and long striped socks. A straight, dark indigo wig should fall past the shoulders and partly hide the face. Long straight wigs tangle at the nape where they rub a collar, so I brush the ends with a wide-tooth comb before going out and keep the comb in my bag. Pale lavender makeup, smudged purple shadow and muted lips go with low brows and a flat expression. The essential prop is a phone in a plain purple case; a dummy phone saves your real one in a crowd. Slouch, move slowly and you've got her.
9. Embarrassment Cosplay With Pink Hoodie

An oversized pink hoodie does nearly all the work for Embarrassment. Buy it long enough to make a rounded shape, and pair it with magenta joggers and pink sneakers. Pull the hood forward to half-hide your face in photos. A short rose wig or temporary pink hair spray keeps the hair simple; that spray transfers onto a pink hoodie happily, but onto a white car seat less so. Pale pink face makeup with heavy blush across the cheeks and nose is his signature. Carry a pink orb or a painted foam console button, and add fingerless pink gloves. Skip padding, which only makes you hot; the roomy sweatshirt already gives his shape. Shy posture and hands near the face finish it.
10. Nostalgia Cosplay With Floral Dress

Nostalgia is a cozy, vintage option and a nice change from the bright emotions. Begin with a modest floral midi dress in dusty pink, lavender or muted blue, add a knitted cardigan, comfortable loafers and sheer neutral tights. A short silver-gray wig in soft waves and round glasses on a chain make the character. Silver wigs show every frizz, so handle it gently and store it on a stand rather than in the bag it came in. Keep makeup soft, with rosy blush and neutral lips. Carry a small photo album or a lavender orb filled with printed snapshots, and a structured handbag for your keys. A brooch and pearl-style clip-ons add charm without feeling formal.
11. Riley Hockey Cosplay With Jersey

Riley's hockey kit suits anyone who'd rather skip face paint. Wear a yellow-and-blue hockey jersey with padded black shorts or athletic pants, tall striped socks and clean sneakers instead of anything resembling real skates. Pull blonde hair into a low ponytail, or pin a shoulder-length blonde wig under a light hockey helmet. A helmet over a wig squashes it flat by the end of the evening, so I'd only wear the helmet for photos and carry it the rest of the time. Fresh makeup with a few freckles is enough. A foam hockey stick and a soft practice puck replace real gear. If it's warm, pick a light replica jersey and drop the padding. Kids, teens and family groups all wear this one easily.
12. Riley Casual Cosplay With Striped Shirt

Riley's everyday clothes make a true last-minute costume. Start with a yellow-and-blue striped T-shirt, medium-wash jeans and bright sneakers, and add a light yellow jacket if it's chilly. Blonde hair in a ponytail or a natural-looking blonde wig and a few freckles across the nose are all the makeup it needs. On its own, though, this reads as a striped shirt, which is the honest trade-off. A backpack covered in felt hockey, rainbow and memory-orb patches, or a glowing yellow orb, fixes that. It's a smart choice for a school dress-up day because it looks like normal clothes. It's even better beside friends dressed as the emotions.
13. Bing Bong Cosplay With Pink Jacket

Bing Bong works as a human-style costume without a full mascot suit. Begin with pink trousers and a textured pink sweater, then add a purple cropped jacket and a matching bow tie. White gloves and black-and-white saddle shoes finish the outfit. For his face, fix soft elephant ears and a curved fabric trunk to a pink headband. I stuff the trunk lightly with fiberfill and anchor it to the headband at two points, because a trunk held at one point droops straight down over your nose within an hour. A brown felt tail with a flower tip goes on the back of the trousers. Pink blush and a rounded nose keep the face cheerful, and a small striped drawstring bag stands in for his wagon.
14. Rainbow Unicorn Cosplay With White Dress

Rainbow Unicorn is the dreamy pick that still belongs in Riley's imagination. Wear a white fit-and-flare dress with pale pink tights and silver ankle boots, and add a faux-fur cropped vest or soft white cardigan for texture. The mane is a long pastel wig with pink, blue, purple and yellow sections. Long multicolored wigs tangle fast, so plait the back loosely if you'll be sitting a lot. Fix a light silver horn and small white ears to a padded headband. Pearly face makeup, pastel rainbow shadow, pink blush and a few cheek stars finish the face. Keep the detachable tail short enough that you can't step on it, and carry a cloud-shaped purse or a glittery orb.
15. Jangles The Clown Cosplay

Jangles can be a cheerful clown instead of a frightening one. Wear a bright yellow jumpsuit or overalls over a blue-and-red striped shirt, add colorful suspenders, oversized fabric buttons and red high-tops instead of floppy clown shoes. A fluffy blue wig sits under a small yellow hat. Go easy on white face makeup; a full white base creases in the heat of a party and is the hardest color to clean off. A round red nose, curved blue brows, rosy cheeks and a friendly smile are enough. Carry light foam balloons or a fabric flower, and skip startling sound effects. A small rainbow backpack holds your things and some spare makeup.
16. Riley’s Mom Cosplay With Red Sweater

Riley's mom is understated and makes the most sense inside a family group. Wear a red fitted sweater, dark blue jeans, brown ankle boots and a simple shoulder bag. Style brown hair in a smooth shoulder-length bob, with a natural wig if you need one. Neutral eyeshadow, warm blush and rose lipstick keep it everyday. On her own she looks like a woman in a red sweater, so carry a console tablet or a clear pouch of small memory orbs, or wear a red headband with tiny felt emotion symbols. Stretch denim and low boots are comfortable for a long walk. Beside Riley, Dad and a few emotions, she completes the family with no paint at all.
17. Riley’s Dad Cosplay With Gray Outfit

Riley's dad starts from a gray office outfit: a pale gray button-down, charcoal trousers, a brown belt and comfortable brown dress shoes. Add a dark gray blazer for a smarter version or roll the sleeves for a relaxed one. Short, slightly tousled brown hair and natural skin are enough. A soft stick-on mustache helps; test the adhesive on your inner arm first, because some skin reacts and an upper lip is a bad place to find out. Carry a phone, a moving-box label or a gray memory orb. A narrow tie dotted with tiny colored circles is a quiet nod to the emotions. Context does the work, so stand next to Riley, Mom or the emotions.
18. Glam Joy Cosplay With Sequin Dress

A sequin Joy is the party version. Choose a knee-length yellow sequin dress with a proper lining; unlined sequins scratch the inner arms raw over an evening, and that's the first thing I check on the hanger. Sheer yellow tights and metallic blue block heels go with it. A structured blue bob keeps the color contrast, and blue floral appliqués on the dress tie it back to the original design. Golden highlights, blue winged shadow, sparkly cheeks and glossy pink lips finish the face. Turn a clear plastic orb with a light inside into a clutch by adding a wrist strap. Glittery blue flats work if heels are a bad idea. Open poses let the sequins catch the light.
19. Winter Sadness Cosplay With Blue Coat

For a cold outdoor event, layer Sadness so it looks planned rather than buried under a coat. Wear a pale blue cable-knit sweater under a roomy navy coat, with blue trousers, thick socks and weatherproof ankle boots. A short blue bob tucks neatly under a knitted blue beanie, which also stops the wig from blowing about. Round black glasses, cool blue face makeup and navy around the eyes keep the character. Wrap a long blue scarf loosely, and carry a clear umbrella with removable blue raindrops or a glowing blue orb. Touchscreen gloves let you use your phone without breaking the color story. Keep the coat oversized, because the soft, droopy shape is still the point.
20. Office Anger Cosplay With Red Blazer

Office Anger turns his shirt and tie into a full suit. Wear a fitted red blazer over a white button-down, with a patterned red tie, charcoal trousers and brown loafers. Red face makeup, sharply angled brows and matte red lips keep him furious. A small layered-felt flame headband adds height without weight. Carry a red briefcase or a clipboard of mock complaint forms, and let gold buttons echo the fire. Face makeup and a lined blazer under warm lights is a sweaty combination, so I'd choose an unlined blazer and set the red with translucent powder to cut down on transfer onto that white collar. The flames make it read as Anger, not just a red suit, so it even works for an office costume day.
21. Preppy Fear Cosplay With Sweater Vest

Preppy Fear keeps his nerves and is easy to thrift. Layer a houndstooth sweater vest over a lavender button-down, add a purple bow tie, cropped navy trousers, patterned purple socks and black loafers. Style a purple wig into a tall curve, or wear a purple beanie with soft felt strands sewn to the top. The beanie version is the one I'd pick for a long day, since a tall styled wig needs touching up every time you go through a doorway. Lavender makeup, raised brows and a little gray shadow under the eyes finish the face. Carry a notebook labeled as a safety plan, a small flashlight and a foam warning card in a crossbody satchel. Pressed clothes and a slightly oversized watch keep it neat.
22. Party Disgust Cosplay With Green Jumpsuit

A tailored green jumpsuit is a modern, party-ready Disgust. Look for a sleeveless wide-leg style with a defined waist, then add a purple scarf as a belt and violet block-heel sandals. A shoulder-length green wig with smooth curls and a side part goes on top. Green foundation is optional; purple liner, full lashes, arched brows and berry lips are the parts that carry the character. Jumpsuits have one honest drawback, which is a full undress for every bathroom trip, so factor that in for a long event. Carry a purple mini bag and pin a fake broccoli boutonniere for the joke. Light statement earrings and a cropped purple jacket for warmth finish it, plus a skeptical look.
23. Athletic Anxiety Cosplay With Orange Set

Athletic Anxiety ties in with Riley's hockey story and moves better than the sweater version. Wear an orange zip-up track jacket with matching joggers, a cream tank and orange running shoes, plus striped wristbands and a small belt bag of handwritten schedules. Style a short orange wig into uneven spikes and pin it well; if you'll be moving a lot, a wig grip band under the cap stops it shifting. Peach-orange face makeup, coral shadow, freckles and high curved brows give her expression. Carry a whistle, stopwatch, clipboard and orange orb, all light. Unzip the jacket when it gets warm. Checking the stopwatch over and over reads in every photo, and it's the version I'd pick for a parade or a lot of walking.
24. Cute Envy Cosplay With Teal Skirt

For a softer Envy, pair a mint puff-sleeve blouse with a teal pleated skirt and turquoise tights, plus low teal Mary Janes and a small sparkly shoulder bag. A short aqua wig with curled ends frames the face, and mint shadow, long lashes, rosy cheeks and glossy green-tinted lips give her wide-eyed look. A pearl-style headband in blue-green both decorates and holds the wig in place, which is why I'd use one even if you don't love headbands. Keep the skirt near the knee and wear shorts underneath. Carry a tiny catalog, a compact mirror or a teal orb with little stars inside. Clasped hands and bright eyes do the rest.
25. Streetwear Ennui Cosplay With Purple Jacket

Ennui slips straight into streetwear. Start with an oversized dark purple bomber, a slate-blue T-shirt and relaxed violet cargo pants, then add platform sneakers, striped socks and a compact crossbody bag. A long indigo wig with blunt bangs should look deliberately flat, so resist the urge to fluff it. Pale lavender foundation, smoky purple eyes and muted mauve lips complete the face. Clip the phone prop to a wrist strap so it can't hit the floor in a crowd, and rest headphones around your neck rather than over the wig, which crushes the crown. Wear the jacket open to show the layers. Most of these pieces go straight back into your everyday wardrobe afterwards.
26. Oversized Embarrassment Cosplay With Joggers

This warmer Embarrassment layers a rose-pink hoodie under an oversized magenta jacket, with loose pink joggers, thick socks and cushioned sneakers. A pink balaclava-style hood can frame the face, but keep it well off the eyes and mouth, or simply wear a short pink wig and pull the sweatshirt hood forward. Rosy makeup with extra blush on the cheeks, ears and nose is the signature. Blush on the ears transfers onto the hood lining, so set it with powder. Carry a soft pink orb or a small pillow you can actually lean on. Long fingerless gloves extend the bundled shape. All those layers get hot fast indoors, so choose pieces that come off one at a time.
27. Memory Orb Keeper Cosplay

A Memory Orb Keeper is an original character that still fits Riley's mind. Wear a white utility jumpsuit with a silver belt, pastel sneakers and a cropped iridescent vest, and either a sleek ponytail or a pale lavender bob. Pearly makeup with a different pastel around each eye is a fun touch. Hang several clear plastic balls from the belt on secure elastic loops, with small battery lights or colored tissue paper inside. Clear craft balls split along the seam if they're squeezed, so I run a strip of clear tape around each join. A padded silver tray holds extra orbs, and silver gloves and an ID badge complete the uniform. This character gives you a reason to interact with every emotion in your group.
28. Headquarters Console Operator Cosplay

A Headquarters console operator turns Riley's control center into a costume. Wear a turquoise jumpsuit over a long-sleeve white top, with silver boots, gloves and a wide utility belt. Style a short blue-and-purple wig into a smooth geometric shape, and add silver eye makeup with colored dots across the cheeks as console lights. Build the control panel from foam board with painted buttons, plastic levers and battery lights, and hang it from shoulder straps so your hands stay free. Foam board dents the moment it hits a doorframe, so I tape the edges with duct tape and round every corner. A headset microphone completes the operator theme. Keep the wiring simple, and it works alone or beside emotion costumes.
29. Train Of Thought Conductor Cosplay

A Train of Thought conductor is a less common idea that groups enjoy. Wear a navy conductor jacket with gold trim, matching trousers, a white shirt and sturdy black boots, and top it with a structured navy cap with a handmade rainbow brain badge. Keep your own hair neat under the hat and use subtle gold-and-blue eye makeup. Carry a ticket punch, pastel paper tickets and a small lantern holding a glowing orb, with a crossbody satchel for more orbs and your phone. Cover the jacket buttons with removable colored circles to bring in the emotions; I make them as fabric-covered snap caps so the jacket goes back to normal afterwards. It sits nicely beside Joy, Sadness, Bing Bong or Riley.
30. Joy And Sadness Duo Cosplay

Joy and Sadness are the strongest pair here because they're opposites in color and mood. Joy wears a yellow floral dress, yellow tights, blue flats, a short blue wig and golden shimmer. Sadness wears an oversized pale blue turtleneck, navy pants, blue shoes, a bob wig, round glasses and cool blue makeup. Give each person a lit orb in their own color. The trick with this duo is posture, not clothing: Joy stands tall and waves her arms while Sadness slumps gently beside her, and that contrast is what people recognize in photos. Choose breathable fabric and comfortable shoes for both. Friends, siblings, couples or a parent and child can all wear it without changes.
31. Anxiety And Envy Duo Cosplay

Orange and turquoise make Anxiety and Envy a loud, happy pair. Anxiety wears a striped orange sweater, rust trousers, orange shoes, a spiky orange wig, peach makeup and a clipboard. Envy wears a mint dress, turquoise tights, teal shoes, a short aqua wig and sparkly green eye makeup, with a compact mirror and a teal orb. Water-based face makeup is the kinder choice for a warm room, but it smudges if you sweat, so a light dusting of setting powder helps both of you. In photos, Anxiety studies the schedule while Envy reaches for the other person's accessories. It suits best friends or siblings who want to coordinate without matching. Matching crossbody bags handle phones and keys.
32. Anger And Disgust Duo Cosplay

Anger and Disgust suit two people who enjoy hamming it up. Anger wears a white short-sleeve shirt, red patterned tie, brown trousers, red face makeup, a flame headband and brown loafers. Disgust wears a fitted green dress, purple scarf, violet tights, green wig, polished makeup and purple flats. Anger gets a clipboard of complaints; Disgust gets fake broccoli or a compact mirror. Make the flames from soft felt so they bend if someone bumps into them. The stiff office shape next to the fashionable one makes the pair easy to read. Practice crossed arms, raised eyebrows and side-eye glances before the event, and wear shoes you can stand in all night.
33. Original Five Emotions Group Cosplay

Five friends can recreate the original emotions with bold color blocking. Joy wears a yellow floral dress and blue wig. Sadness wears a pale blue sweater, navy pants, a blue bob and round glasses. Anger needs a white shirt, red tie, brown trousers, red makeup and felt flames. Fear combines a lavender shirt, houndstooth vest, purple bow tie, navy pants and tall purple hair. Disgust wears a green dress, purple scarf, green wig and violet shoes. The common mistake in group costumes is uneven effort, one person in full face paint beside four in street makeup, so agree on how far you'll all go before anyone shops. Give everyone an orb in their color, put the tallest at the back and pose around a foam console.
34. New Emotions Group Cosplay

Anxiety, Envy, Ennui and Embarrassment make a four-person group from Riley's teenage years. Anxiety wears orange stripes, rust pants, orange shoes, a wild wig and peach makeup. Envy wears a mint dress, turquoise tights, teal shoes and a short aqua wig. Ennui wears loose purple clothes, platform sneakers, long indigo hair and muted lavender makeup. Embarrassment finishes the line in an oversized pink hoodie, matching joggers, pink shoes and heavy rosy blush. Each gets one prop: schedules, a mirror, a phone and a pink orb. Envy is tiny and Embarrassment is huge, so put your shortest and tallest people in those two roles and the group reads at once. Comfortable clothes leave room for big expressions.
35. Inside Out Family Cosplay

A family costume can combine Riley, her parents and several emotions without everyone wearing face paint. Riley wears a yellow-and-blue striped shirt, jeans, sneakers and a blonde ponytail. Mom wears a red sweater, dark jeans and brown boots, and Dad wears a gray shirt, charcoal trousers and loafers. Kids or adults can be Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, Disgust or the newer emotions in their color-blocked outfits and light wigs. Younger children often refuse wigs after ten minutes, so give them a colored beanie or hat instead, and put babies in a plain romper in their emotion's color. Matching orbs made from clear balls and tissue paper tie everyone together. Put Riley and her parents in the middle for photos, with the emotions around them.
Colored Face Makeup That Stays Off Your Collar
Most of these costumes use a full color on the face, and that's the part people worry about. I'm not a makeup artist, but a few everyday habits make it much easier:
- Patch-test any face paint on the inside of your wrist a day or two before, even products labeled for skin.
- Use paint made for faces, never craft or acrylic paint, and keep it off the eyelids and lips unless the product says it's safe there.
- Apply thin layers with a damp sponge rather than one thick coat; thick paint cracks as you smile.
- Press translucent setting powder over cream paint to cut down on transfer, and set it again halfway through the evening.
- Wear a dark or matching collar where you can, and pin a tissue inside a white collar until you leave the house.
- Take it off with an oil-based cleanser or balm before washing, rather than scrubbing with soap and hot water.
Getting a Cheap Bright Wig to Behave
Bright synthetic wigs arrive flat and shiny, and they frizz near heat, so keep them away from straighteners and hot air unless the label says heat-resistant. Shake the wig out, then brush it from the ends upward with a wide-tooth comb. A light mist of water with a little fabric softener cuts the static and dulls the plastic shine.
Wear a wig cap and pin through it in four places, front, back and both sides, so the wig doesn't creep when you turn your head. For spiky styles like Anxiety's or Fear's tall hair, shape small sections and set them with strong-hold hairspray. Store the wig on a stand or loosely in a bag with a net over it, and it'll be ready for the next event.
Which Emotion Will Your Group Fight Over?
There's a look here for every setup, from a solo costume to a pair, a group or a whole family. You can copy a favorite character closely or invent your own around memory orbs, Headquarters and Riley's imagination. Start with the character's main color and clothing shape, then add the wig or hair, the makeup, one light prop and comfortable shoes. Thrifted basics go a long way, especially for Riley, her parents, Anger, Fear and the casual variations. Give your comfort the same priority as the look: breathable layers, secure pieces, clear vision and props that won't hurt anyone in a crowd. Get those right and you'll still be smiling like Joy at the end of the night.
