Six people is a strangely hard number for a group costume. Plenty of famous casts stop at four or five, and the sixth friend ends up as "a tree" in the background. When I plan for six, I look for a world, a colour set or a cast that has six real parts, so every person gets a full look from hair to shoes. A good theme also has to scale cleanly, read in a photo, and leave each person a little room to play. Below are character casts, silly DIY ideas, colour-led sets and a few gentle scary ones, each broken down into clothing, hair, makeup, shoes and simple props. Most of it comes from ordinary clothes plus some felt and card, so friends, cousins, coworkers or classmates can pull it off without a big spend.

When a Cast Only Has Five Good Parts
The most common snag with six people is a favourite cast that runs out of characters. Before you drop the idea, look at how the cast can stretch. I usually try three fixes, in this order.
- Promote a side character the fans know, like a pet, a villain or a sidekick, and give that person a full outfit rather than a token prop.
- Turn an object from the story into a costume. A golden ticket, a magic mirror or a game board can be worn as a panel and often gets the biggest laugh.
- Split a role in two. Twins, a pair of guards or a two-person animal give the sixth friend a partner instead of leaving them on the edge.
What I avoid is the vague extra, like "a villager" in plain clothes. That person always looks left out in photos, and they usually know it. If none of the fixes works, choose a colour-led theme instead, since a set of six colours never runs short.
1. Wizard Of Oz Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Oz has exactly six headline roles, which is rare. Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, Glinda and the Wicked Witch. Dorothy is a blue gingham dress, braids, red flats and a basket. The Scarecrow gets patched overalls, a plaid shirt, a straw hat and brown boots. Tin Man wears silver clothing, metallic face paint and a funnel hat; metallic cream paint looks great but rubs off on anyone he hugs, so set it with powder. The Lion is a brown sweatsuit, furry mane, soft tail and boots. Glinda takes a pale pink gown, curls, a tall crown and a star wand. The Witch wears a long black dress, striped tights, a pointed hat, green face paint and buckled shoes.
2. Scooby-Doo Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Scooby-Doo is one of the best group costumes for a party, because nobody's outfit stops them sitting on a sofa. Scooby is a brown hoodie and joggers with floppy ears, painted spots, a blue collar and brown sneakers. Shaggy wears a loose green shirt, brown pants, messy hair and worn shoes. Velma takes an orange sweater, red skirt, knee socks, glasses and a short bob wig. Daphne gets a purple dress, green scarf, red wig and lavender flats, and Fred a white sweater, blue pants, orange neck scarf and blond wig. Scrappy-Doo fills the sixth slot in a lighter brown outfit with puppy ears, a blue collar, playful face paint and matching sneakers. I'd make both dogs' ears from felt over a headband, not a hood, so they don't overheat inside.
3. Addams Family Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and Grandmama give you gothic humour without anything gruesome. Morticia wears a long fitted black dress, sleek centre-parted hair, dark eye makeup and pointed flats. Gomez needs a striped suit, neat mustache, slick hair and polished black shoes. Wednesday is a black dress, white collar, braided pigtails, pale makeup and loafers. Pugsley wears a black and white striped shirt, dark shorts, knee socks and lace-ups. Fester takes a long dark coat, a smooth bald cap, pale face paint and heavy boots. The bald cap is the piece I'd practise with, because the edge shows unless you blend it into the forehead with makeup. Grandmama finishes it in layered grey clothes, a wild silver wig, smoky makeup, ankle boots and a few harmless potion bottles.
4. Inside Out Emotions Group Of Six Halloween Costume

These six emotions are a costume where the face paint does most of the work, so plan your makeup time before your shopping. Joy wears a yellow dress, short blue wig, bright makeup and yellow flats. Sadness needs a pale blue sweater, navy pants, round glasses, blue face paint and plain sneakers. Anger combines a white shirt, red tie, dark pants, red face paint and flame-shaped felt hair. Fear wears a purple vest, checked pants, bow tie, lavender makeup and black shoes. Disgust gets a green dress, neck scarf, green wig, dramatic lashes and flats, and Anxiety an orange striped sweater, high-waisted brown pants, orange makeup, messy red hair and worn sneakers. Full-face colour should always be patch-tested on the wrist the day before. Clear plastic ornaments make good memory-orb props.
5. Toy Story Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, Bo Peep, Rex and an alien make a toy box that suits mixed ages. Woody needs jeans, a yellow checked shirt, cow-print vest, red scarf, cowboy hat and brown boots. Jessie wears cow-print pants, a white western shirt, red hat, braided wig and boots. Buzz works as a white sweatsuit with green and purple felt, a purple hood and white sneakers. Bo Peep can wear a pastel jumpsuit or dress, pink hair bow, rosy makeup and ankle boots. Rex gets a green hoodie, matching pants, felt spikes, a tail and sneakers. The alien wears a blue jumpsuit, green hood, pointed ears, an antenna headband and three painted eyes. I'd stuff Rex's tail lightly and keep it short; a long tail at a party gets stood on all evening.
6. Super Mario Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Toad and Yoshi is about as safe a bet as group costumes get. Mario wears blue overalls, a red shirt and cap, white gloves, a mustache and brown shoes, and Luigi copies the formula in green with a taller mustache. Stick-on mustaches lose grip once you start eating and talking, so I tell the brothers to bring spares or draw them on with brow pencil. Peach needs a pink dress, blond wig, crown, blue earrings, rosy makeup and pink flats. Daisy wears a yellow-orange dress, brown wig, flower crown and orange shoes. Toad pairs white pants with a blue vest and a homemade red-spotted mushroom hat. Yoshi takes a green hoodie and joggers with a white belly panel, felt back spikes, a round tail, orange shoes and green face paint.
7. Classic Monsters Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Classic monsters let a group be spooky without anyone feeling uncomfortable in gore. Cast a vampire, witch, mummy, ghost, werewolf and stitched monster. The vampire wears a black suit, red-lined cape, slick hair, pale makeup and dress shoes. The witch takes a black ruffled dress, pointed hat, striped tights, purple eye makeup and boots. Wrap the mummy's beige outfit loosely with fabric strips and add dusty neutral makeup. The ghost wears flowing white layers, silvery makeup and white sneakers hidden under the hem, which needs hemming above the shoe or it gets trodden on. The werewolf gets a plaid shirt, faux-fur cuffs, furry ears, messy hair and boots. The stitched monster has a dark jacket, green makeup, drawn-on seams, black pants, chunky shoes and tall styled hair.
8. Rainbow Crayon Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Six crayons is a cheap, quick set, and for a group with no sewing skills at all, it's where I'd point them. Assign red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Each person wears a solid tee or sweatshirt with matching pants, socks, sneakers and a pointed paper hat. Black felt waves around the cuffs and ankles copy the wrapper without any logo, and a tall black felt label down the shirt names the shade. Hair can stay simple or take washable colour to match. Coloured eyeshadow, liner or face gems back up each shade. Stand in rainbow order and carry cardboard crayons or small art palettes.
9. Colorful Candy Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Six candy pieces in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and brown is a lighter version of the crayon idea, and it's easy to wear all night. Each person puts on a solid tee with a big white felt letter on the front, plus matching pants or a knee-length tulle skirt. White gloves, striped socks and clean white sneakers keep the finish consistent. Bright clips, bows or temporary hair chalk add play, though chalk dusts onto shoulders, so I'd keep it to dark tops. Eyeshadow in each person's colour with a glossy finish ties the face in. Round foam-board signs can be big candy props. Because the base is a plain tee, it's easy to add a long-sleeve layer under it for a cold walk to the party.
10. Clue Suspects Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Clue hands you six colour-coded suspects, so there's no arguing over who goes with whom. Miss Scarlet wears a red dress, curled hair, red lipstick, and heels or flats. Colonel Mustard takes a golden vest, tailored pants, bow tie, glasses and brown shoes. Mrs. White wears a black dress with a white apron, a neat bun and sensible loafers. Mr. Green is a green suit, matching tie, slick hair and dress shoes. Mrs. Peacock needs a blue dress, feathered hair clip, blue eye makeup and pumps. Professor Plum wears a purple blazer, checked trousers, glasses, polished shoes and a notebook for jotting "clues." It's the most grown-up theme here, and if the party has a murder-mystery game, I'd pick it before anything else on the list.
11. Alice In Wonderland Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat and the Caterpillar give you six big personalities. Alice wears a blue dress, white apron, black headband, white tights and Mary Janes. The Hatter combines a bright jacket, patterned pants, colourful scarf, tall hat, wild hair and boots. The Queen needs a red and black dress, heart-shaped makeup, a crown and pointed flats. The Rabbit wears white with a waistcoat, bunny ears, round glasses and a pocket watch. The Cheshire Cat takes pink and purple stripes, cat ears, whiskers, a tail and sneakers, and the Caterpillar blue layers, round glasses, blue makeup and antennae. Bunny ears on a cheap headband press behind the ears after an hour; I'd pad the band with a strip of felt.
12. Peter Pan Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Peter Pan works for six with Peter, Wendy, Tinker Bell, Captain Hook, Tiger Lily and the Crocodile. Peter wears a green tunic, leggings, pointed cap, messy hair and brown ankle boots. Wendy needs a light blue dress, ribbon-tied ponytail, soft makeup and flats. Tinker Bell can wear a green skater dress, a bun, see-through wings, shimmer makeup and pom-pom shoes; wings on elastic loops dig in, so I'd sew them onto a snug vest instead. Hook is a red coat, ruffled shirt, dark trousers, curled wig, hat and tall boots, with a soft costume hook only. Tiger Lily should be a nature-themed brown dress with leaf details, braids and flat boots, never a copy of a real culture's dress. The Crocodile wears a green jumpsuit, felt scales, long tail, snout cap and green sneakers.
13. Circus Performers Group Of Six Halloween Costume

A circus suits a crew where a couple of people like to ham it up. Cast a ringmaster, clown, strong performer, magician, acrobat and fortune teller. The ringmaster wears a red tailcoat, black pants, top hat, gold makeup accents and boots. The clown stays cheerful with bright overalls, a striped shirt, rainbow wig, round nose and big shoes. Big clown shoes are fine for photos and miserable on stairs, so bring normal shoes in a bag. The strong performer takes a striped top, suspenders, dark pants, curled mustache, boots and foam weights. The magician wears a black suit, cape, top hat, white gloves and dress shoes. The acrobat can wear a modest metallic unitard over leggings, ballet flats and a neat bun, while the fortune teller layers jewel tones with a head scarf, gold jewellery, ankle boots and cards.
14. Solar System Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Space shrinks nicely to six: the Sun, the Moon, Earth, Saturn, Mars and a star. The Sun wears yellow and gold, warm face makeup, a ray headpiece and metallic sneakers. The Moon takes silver-grey layers, a crescent crown, cool-toned makeup and silver flats. Earth combines blue clothing with green felt continents, blue hair clips and sneakers. Mars goes rusty red with copper makeup, a planet headband and red shoes. Saturn wears tan or gold with a light painted foam-board ring; cut the inside of the ring a hand's width bigger than the waist so it doesn't rub. The star finishes the group in a silver jumpsuit or dress, sparkly hair clips, star makeup and white boots. A few battery lights add safe sparkle for a dark yard.
15. Greek Mythology Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Greek gods are the theme I suggest when everyone has an old white sheet and nothing else. Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Athena, Apollo and Aphrodite share a draped white tunic base, then each one gets a colour sash and props. Zeus adds a white wig, a gold laurel crown, brown sandals and a foam lightning bolt. Hera wears a deep blue wrap, jewelled crown, elegant updo and gold flats. Poseidon takes sea-green fabric, wavy hair, blue makeup, sandals and a shell-covered staff instead of anything sharp. Athena wears silver foam armour panels, a helmet-style headband and boots. Apollo needs a golden sash, sun crown, curls and sandals, and Aphrodite blush fabric, flowers, soft waves, glowing makeup and gold shoes. Pin the drapes with large safety pins hidden under the sash; knots alone slip loose by midnight.
16. Color-Coded Superhero Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Making up your own heroes in red, blue, green, yellow, purple and silver saves you from arguing over one famous team. Each person wears a fitted long-sleeve top over leggings or joggers, a knee-length cape, matching gloves and boots or sneakers. Cut a chest symbol from felt for each hero, such as a star, wave, leaf, bolt, moon or shield. Match washable hair colour, wigs or clip-in streaks to each palette. I'd skip the fabric masks and use bold eye makeup instead, since masks slide down the nose the moment you laugh. Foam wrist cuffs and light utility belts finish the outline. Give every hero a made-up power and a signature pose for the photo.
17. Fairytale Villains Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Villains are a costume of drama, and for a dressy party that's the appeal. Choose an evil queen, a sea witch, a dark fairy, a fur-loving fashion villain, a wicked stepmother and a shadowy sorcerer. The queen wears a purple-black gown, crown, high collar and red lipstick. The sea witch gets black and purple layers, a white wig, shell necklace and bold eye makeup. The dark fairy needs a long black dress, a horned headpiece, a cape and green accents. The fashion villain wears a split black and white wig, spotted coat, red gloves and boots. The stepmother takes a wine-coloured gown, updo and jewelled brooch, and the sorcerer a dark robe, silver hair, smoky makeup, boots and a glowing crystal prop. A tall stand-up collar needs interfacing or wire in the edge, or it flops by the first drink.
18. Six Decades Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Six decades gives each person an era, so everyone picks a shape they like. Take the 1920s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. The twenties need a fringed dress, feather headband, bob and Mary Janes. The fifties are a circle skirt, fitted cardigan, ponytail, scarf and saddle shoes. The sixties use a bright shift dress, white boots, winged liner and a smooth bob. The seventies get flared jeans, a printed blouse, feathered hair and platforms. The eighties wear leggings, a bright windbreaker, teased hair, scrunchies and high-tops. The nineties close it out with overalls, a striped tee, bucket hat, tiny sunglasses and chunky sneakers. Nearly everything here turns up in thrift stores, and I'd shop as a group so nobody doubles up.
19. Rock Band Group Of Six Halloween Costume

A rock band is the easiest way to make six people look like one unit with a single shared base: black jeans and boots. Cast a lead singer, guitarist, bassist, keyboard player, drummer and backup singer, and give each a different jacket or metallic accent. The singer wears a sequinned blazer, styled hair and bold liner, with a toy microphone. The guitarist and bassist take plain tees, leather-look jackets, coloured hair streaks and light cardboard instruments; give those a strap from an old bag so their hands stay free for a drink. The keyboard player gets a bright blazer, sunglasses, slick hair and a mini cardboard keyboard. The drummer wears a sleeveless vest, wristbands, messy hair and sneakers, with foam drumsticks. The backup singer takes a metallic top, flared pants, glam makeup, ankle boots and a second mic.
20. Disco Dancers Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Disco dancers are the obvious pick for a party with a dance floor. Build each look around flared pants, jumpsuits, wrap tops or knee-length dresses in silver, gold, pink, blue, purple and green. Platforms or chunky boots give the era's shape, but choose a stable sole, because a cheap platform rolls an ankle on the first spin. Hair can be feathered waves, round curls, a sleek ponytail or a colourful headband. Glossy makeup, bright eyeshadow and a few face gems finish the face. Wide belts, hoops, tinted glasses and metallic scarves set each costume apart. One person carries a light mirror-ball prop and the rest bring cardboard records. One more note on jumpsuits: they're great to dance in and a nuisance in a party bathroom, so anyone who hates that should pick the wrap top.
21. Garden Bug Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Garden bugs are cheerful and kind to a mixed-age group. Cast a bee, butterfly, ladybug, dragonfly, caterpillar and snail. The bee wears black and yellow stripes, sheer wings, antennae, rosy makeup and black sneakers. The butterfly takes a bright outfit with big patterned wings, curled hair, glittery eye makeup and flats. The ladybug is red and black with spotted wings, antennae and red shoes. The dragonfly combines blue-green clothes, long see-through wings, shimmer makeup and silver sneakers. The caterpillar is a green hoodie and pants with felt circles and antennae, and the snail a brown or beige outfit with curled headband feelers, a spiral foam-board shell and boots. Big wings knock over drinks indoors, so for a house party I'd size the butterfly's wings no wider than its owner's elbows.
22. Fast Food Meal Group Of Six Halloween Costume

A six-person meal makes people laugh the moment you walk in. Cast a burger, fries, soda, ketchup, mustard and a server. The burger wears a brown shirt and tan pants with layered felt strips for lettuce, cheese and tomato, plus sesame-seed headwear and sneakers. The fries are a red cardboard carton over yellow clothes with foam fries around the shoulders. The soda is a colour cylinder tunic with a straw headband, matching leggings and shoes. Ketchup and mustard wear red and yellow with cone bottle hats and plain labels. The server takes black pants, a bright polo, visor, apron and nonslip shoes, carrying an empty tray. That server role is the gift for the friend who hates dressing up. I'd keep the carton and cylinder open at the back so both can sit down.
23. Fruit Salad Group Of Six Halloween Costume

A fruit salad reads clearly and comes together at a kitchen table. Cast a strawberry, pineapple, watermelon, grapes, orange and banana. The strawberry wears red with black felt seeds, a green leaf collar, rosy makeup and red shoes. The pineapple takes yellow clothing, a textured tunic, a green crown headband, gold eye makeup and sneakers. The watermelon is a pink top, green pants, black seed shapes and green shoes. Grapes are purple clothing with felt circles or balloons and a green leaf headpiece; balloons pop in a crowd, so felt is the safer bet for a party. The orange wears a round orange tunic, green hair clip and matching shoes. The banana closes the bowl in yellow layers, a curved foam-board panel, a yellow cap and brown-tipped sneakers.
24. Breakfast Food Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Breakfast for six is toast, a fried egg, bacon, cereal, a pancake and orange juice. Toast wears tan clothes under a bread-shaped foam-board tunic, with brown shoes and some browned makeup shading at the edges. The egg is white with a round yellow felt centre, a yellow headband and white sneakers. Bacon takes a red and pink striped tunic over dark leggings and boots. Cereal wears a decorated cardboard bowl around the waist with felt cereal pieces and a spoon headband. The pancake is stacked tan foam circles, a yellow butter hat, a syrup-coloured scarf and brown shoes. Orange juice wears bright orange, a carton-shaped vest, a straw headband and white shoes. The cereal bowl is the build that fails; a full card ring is impossible to sit in, so I'd make it the front half only.
25. Chess Pieces Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Chess pieces are the most elegant theme here, and the most forgiving on budget, since it's all black or white. Cast a king, queen, bishop, knight, rook and pawn, and decide early if the group is one side or a mix of both. Simple dresses, tunics, suits or capes in the chosen colour go under foam headpieces shaped like each piece. The king gets a cross-topped crown and long cape; the queen a pointed crown and floor-length outfit. The bishop wears a split-point hat and structured tunic, and the knight a horse-head headband and tailored vest. The rook takes a castle-top crown and boxy shoulder panels. The pawn stays plain with a rounded cap, tunic, leggings and matching shoes. Tall foam crowns topple, so I'd glue a comb inside each one to grip the hair.
26. Weather Forecast Group Of Six Halloween Costume

A weather forecast is a fun party idea because each person's costume is a little joke. Cast sunshine, rain, a rainbow, snow, lightning and a cloud. The Sun wears yellow clothes, a ray headband, golden makeup and yellow sneakers. Rain gets blue layers, a cloud hat with ribbon drops hanging from it, blue eyeshadow, rain boots and a closed umbrella. The Rainbow wears colourful stripes, bright clips, rosy makeup and white shoes. Snow takes white and silver, a snowflake crown, cool shimmer makeup and white boots. Lightning is black covered in yellow felt bolts, spiked yellow hair and matching sneakers. The Cloud wears pale grey with fibrefill stitched to a vest, silver makeup and a fluffy headband. Hand-stitch the fibrefill in clumps; glued stuffing pulls apart and leaves a trail.
27. Neon Skeleton Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Neon skeletons take a classic costume and give each of six people a colour: pink, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Everyone starts with a black long-sleeve shirt, black pants, gloves and dark sneakers or boots. Cut rib, arm and leg bones from bright felt or reflective tape, one colour per person. Match each with a coloured wig, clip-in streaks or washable hair spray. Face paint can be clean skeleton lines in that colour over a neutral base, nothing gory. Glow bracelets and a small LED piece add visibility without blocking faces. Under a black light at a party, felt in neon shades glows far more than ordinary craft felt, so it's worth checking the label when you buy. Line up by colour for the photo.
28. Pirate Crew Group Of Six Halloween Costume

A pirate crew is where people raid their own closets, and six jobs keep it from becoming six identical captains. Cast a captain, navigator, treasure keeper, deckhand, lookout and ship's cook. The captain wears a long coat, ruffled shirt, tricorn hat, curled hair and boots, with a rolled map. The navigator gets a striped blouse, vest, cropped pants, head scarf, boots and a compass. The treasure keeper takes a velvet jacket, layered necklaces, dark trousers, smoky makeup and a small light chest. The deckhand wears a loose white shirt, patched pants, a sash, messy hair and flat boots. The lookout has a fitted vest, cap and tall boots, plus a cardboard telescope. The cook wears a striped shirt, apron, chef hat, comfortable shoes and a wooden spoon. I'd tie every sash at the hip, since a front knot comes undone when you sit.
29. Storybook Princess Group Of Six Halloween Costume

Six princesses works best as DIY dresses, not shop-bought gowns. Cinderella needs a pale blue gown, a neat updo, a headband, soft makeup and silver flats. Snow White wears a blue top, yellow skirt, red cape, bob wig, bow and red shoes. Belle combines a golden dress with half-up hair, a rose and gold flats. Rapunzel takes a purple dress and a very long braided blond wig with flowers. Ariel wears a teal skirt, purple top, red wig, ocean-themed makeup and flats rather than a tail she can't walk in. Sleeping Beauty finishes the line in a pink gown, golden crown, curled blond wig, light makeup and pink shoes. Rapunzel's braid is the weight problem: a long braid pulls the wig backward, so I'd pin it to the wig cap at the nape.
30. Soda Can Six-Pack Group Of Six Halloween Costume

A soda six-pack is a fast last-minute group, and the jokes write themselves. Give each person a colour and a made-up flavour, such as cherry red, orange fizz, lemon, lime, berry blue and grape. Everyone wears matching shirts and pants under a cylinder tunic of poster board or light fabric. Silver trim goes round the top and bottom, and a painted cardboard pull-tab sits on a headband. Each person matches eye makeup, wig or clips and sneakers to their flavour. Paint generic bubbles instead of copying a real label. A big cardboard six-pack frame looks great in the photo; take it off for the rest of the night, or nobody can get through a door.
A House Party Changes the Build
Costumes made for trick-or-treating and costumes made for a party fail in different ways. At a party you'll be sitting, eating, hugging people and standing near a warm kitchen for hours. That changes what I build.
- Keep anything stiff off the back of the body. Shells, cartons and wings that stick out behind you make every chair a problem.
- Choose a layer you can take off. Indoors with a crowd gets hot fast, so a sweatshirt-based costume needs a cooler tee version underneath.
- Set face paint with powder and carry a small kit of wipes, cotton swabs and a mini powder for touch-ups after eating.
- Skip loose glitter. It spreads onto the host's sofa and stays there long after Halloween.
One shared craft evening
The groups I've seen pull off the best costumes usually build them together in one evening, not six people working alone. Pile up the felt, card, glue and scissors on one table, and let the fastest crafter cut the shapes while the others paint and stitch. It also gives you a mini try-on, so the person whose hat keeps slipping finds out a week early instead of on the night.
The Set of Six I'd Pull Together This Week
Six costumes come together far more easily once every person has a clear role, a comfortable base outfit and a short list of accessories. The ideas above cover character casts, food themes, colour sets, gentle monsters and a few you can throw together the week of the party. Before you settle, think about the venue, the weather, the budget, anyone's mobility needs and how much crafting the group will really do. Agree early on shared details like shoe colour, how heavy the makeup goes and what the props are made of. I'd put one person in charge of reference photos and another in charge of buying shared supplies. And pick a theme all six actually like; a group that's having fun always looks better than six expensive costumes that don't belong together.
