Pulp Fiction is one of the easiest films to dress for, because almost every character is built from clothes you can find on a thrift rack: a white shirt, a black suit, a Hawaiian print, a bathrobe. What separates a good version from a vague one is usually the hair and a single prop. When I style these, I spend most of the effort on the wig and the silhouette and very little on the clothes themselves. Mia Wallace in her white shirt and cropped trousers is the obvious starting point, but Vincent’s rumpled suit, Jules’s sharper one and the diner crowd give you plenty to work with. Every look below sticks to harmless props like menus, milkshakes, coffee cups, a dance trophy and the glowing briefcase, so nobody at the party has to explain anything uncomfortable. You’ll find solo looks, couples and full groups.

Turning a Thrift-Store Black Suit Into Vincent or Jules
Most of the men in this film, and a few of the groups below, need a black suit. You rarely need a new one. When I shop for these, I look at the shoulders first, because that’s the one thing a quick alteration can’t fix. For Jules, the shoulder seam should sit right at the edge of your shoulder. For Vincent, going up a size is fine, since a slightly loose jacket is what you want.
- Check the trouser length. A break that pools over the shoe looks sloppy in photos even on Vincent. Iron-on hemming tape fixes it in ten minutes.
- Narrow the tie, not the suit. A wide 1990s tie is the most common giveaway. A thin black tie or a cheap bolo changes the whole look.
- Kill the shine. Very shiny polyester suits look like party-store costumes under a flash. Matte wool blends or linen photograph far better.
- Shirt collars matter for Jules. Button it to the top and check it doesn’t gape. If it’s loose, a collar extender or one button moved helps.
Once the suit fits, the wig and the posture do the rest. Put the jacket on and try a dance move or a long reach before the party. If it pulls across the back, let out the centre back seam if there is allowance, or switch to the looser character.
1. Mia Wallace White Shirt Costume

Mia’s shirt should be oversized, with a wide collar and long cuffs that fall past the wrist. Wear it untucked over cropped black kick-flare pants that stop above the ankle, and add gold or black ballet flats. The wig is what makes her: a sleek black bob with blunt bangs. Most cheap bob wigs arrive with bangs that sit in your eyelashes, so I trim them with the wig on, taking a little at a time. Pale matte skin, strong brows, black mascara and a deep red lip finish the face. Carry a vanilla milkshake cup or a small dance trophy, and use fashion tape at the shirt placket so it doesn’t gape when you twist.
2. Vincent Vega Black Suit Costume

Vincent should look like he slept in his suit. A slightly loose black jacket over a white shirt and black trousers, with a narrow black tie or a western bolo, gets you most of the way. Black dress shoes and dark socks keep the line clean below. His hair is long and dark, pulled into a low ponytail, so a shoulder-length wig is usually needed. Natural, lightly mattified skin and a little shading under the eyes give him that tired look, and a small hoop earring is a detail people do notice. I’d resist pressing the suit at all. A crisp Vincent just reads as a man in a suit.
3. Jules Winnfield Black Suit Costume

Jules is the tidy half of the pair. Look for a fitted black suit, a clean white shirt buttoned to the top, a very narrow black tie, and black leather shoes with matching socks. The rounded textured wig, joined to sideburns and a neat mustache, carries the character, so spend your money there rather than on the suit. If the facial hair is drawn on, a brow pencil set with a little powder lasts longer than liner. A brown wallet is a small, practical nod to the diner scene, and the glowing briefcase is the safer prop for group photos. Stand straight and keep the collar crisp; that posture is half the difference between him and Vincent.
4. Vincent Vega And Mia Wallace Couple Costume

The dance-contest pair is the couple costume most people will clock first. Mia wears her oversized white shirt, cropped black pants, blunt bob, red lipstick and gold flats; Vincent wears the relaxed black suit, white shirt, bolo tie, black shoes and dark ponytail. Give her the milkshake and him the menu, and let the small dance trophy pass between you. The thing I check before anyone leaves the house is whether both of you can actually do the twist: lift your arms, bend your knees, see what pulls. Tight jacket shoulders and stiff trousers are what usually fail. Because it’s all black and white, both looks come together cheaply from basics.
5. Vincent Vega And Jules Winnfield Duo Costume

Two black suits only work as Vincent and Jules if they’re clearly different. Vincent gets the loose jacket, open collar, bolo tie and long ponytail; Jules gets the fitted suit, the shirt buttoned up, a slim tie, polished shoes and the rounded wig with facial hair. That contrast in tailoring and hair is the whole joke, so don’t let one person borrow the other’s neatness. Between you, carry a lightweight gold briefcase with battery lights inside, plus a coffee cup or a folded menu. A suit is also a warm costume, which makes this duo a sensible pick for a cold night when other people are shivering in thin polyester.
6. Butch Coolidge Boxer Costume

Butch is the one character here who never needs a suit. Put a satin boxing robe over a plain white tank and knee-length boxing shorts, then add tall white athletic socks and flat training sneakers. Hair should be cropped close or shaved. Skip the cuts and bruises; a little flush on the cheeks says post-fight without making anyone wince. Soft padded gloves, a gym towel and a gold-style wristwatch are your props. If the robe is plain, a felt nickname patch on the back is easy to make, though I’d stitch it rather than glue it, because felt on slippery satin lets go once you start moving.
7. Fabienne Motel Costume

Fabienne is all early-1990s softness. A fitted scoop-neck tee or a light knit top, high-waisted patterned trousers or a modest midi skirt, and a roomy cardigan over the top give you her motel-room look. Flat ankle boots, loafers or canvas sneakers keep it casual. The bob is short, dark and gently waved, with side-swept bangs. Makeup stays fresh: rosy blush, brown mascara and a muted pink lip. A pancake takeout box or a toothbrush in a travel case is a cute, very specific prop. I let the pieces clash a bit on purpose; if everything matches, she starts to look like a catalogue rather than a person who packed in a hurry.
8. Butch Coolidge And Fabienne Couple Costume

Butch and Fabienne work as a couple because they look nothing alike. He has the satin robe, white tank, athletic shorts, high socks, training shoes and wristwatch; she has the knit top, patterned trousers, cardigan, ankle boots and short wavy bob. Keep his face natural with a little flush and give her soft blush and a muted pink lip. Props carry the story here: an overnight bag, a folded city map and a pancake takeout box. When I pair a sporty look with a cozy one, I put the strongest colour on the less obvious character so she doesn’t disappear in photos next to the shiny robe.
9. Marsellus Wallace Black Suit Costume

Marsellus needs presence more than detail. Go for a dark suit with structured shoulders, a crisp white shirt, a black tie and polished black shoes, and add a dark overcoat if you’ll be outside. A bald cap works, though a closely shaved head is far more comfortable; bald caps get warm and start to lift at the edges after a couple of hours. Even, matte skin with light contour is enough. The small adhesive bandage on the back of the neck is the reference film fans look for. Carry a black folder, an old mobile phone or the gold briefcase, and press the shirt properly. He should look sharper and more powerful than Vincent, never rumpled.
10. Winston Wolf Tuxedo Costume

Winston Wolf is the choice for anyone going to a dressier party who still wants a character, not just a tux. Start with a black tuxedo or formal suit, a white pleated shirt and a slim black bow tie, plus a satin cummerbund if you have one and glossy black shoes. Short grey hair combed neatly back, or a swept-back silver wig, does the rest. The props are what make it funny: a travel mug, a clipboard with a cleaning checklist, and bright household gloves poking out of one pocket. A vintage-style wristwatch suits his obsession with time. I keep every element neat, because his whole personality is order.
11. Pumpkin Hawaiian Shirt Costume

Pumpkin dresses like a man on a cheap holiday. A bold Hawaiian shirt in brown, rust or orange goes open over a plain black tee, with tan chinos or dark casual trousers and worn leather lace-ups. Sandy hair with a messy side part, light matte foundation and a little under-eye shading make him look jumpy. Carry a coffee mug, a laminated diner menu and a small canvas bag. Roll the sleeves loosely. On a cold night a thin thermal top hides under the tee without changing the look. He reads best standing next to Honey Bunny; on his own, a stranger may just see a man in a loud shirt.
12. Honey Bunny Cardigan Costume

Honey Bunny is comfortable enough to wear all night. A fitted sleeveless top or a modest scoop-neck dress in a muted neutral, with a cropped cardigan over it, low-heeled shoes and dark tights if you want them, is the base. The tousled strawberry-blonde bob with choppy bangs is what people recognize. I usually rough up a synthetic wig with my fingers and a little dry texture spray, because straight out of the bag it looks too polished for her. Pale matte skin, smudged brown liner, peach blush and a rosy lip match the diner scene. If you’d rather wear trousers, swap the dress for a simple top and high-waisted dark pants.
13. Pumpkin And Honey Bunny Couple Costume

This couple should look faded and a little mismatched, in earthy colours. Pumpkin wears the Hawaiian shirt over a black tee, tan trousers, leather shoes and messy sandy hair; Honey Bunny wears a muted dress or fitted top with a cropped cardigan, dark tights, low heels and the tousled strawberry-blonde bob. Natural makeup for him, smudged brown liner and peach blush for her. A diner menu, two coffee mugs and a check presenter are the props, and for photos you can sit across a small café table. Keep the attitude playful; nobody needs a threatening pose to make this one land.
14. Lance Bathrobe Costume

Lance looks like he hasn’t left the house in a week, which is the point. A faded racing-style cartoon tee, loose lounge pants or plaid pajama bottoms, a long worn bathrobe and old slippers or canvas sneakers give you the base. The shoulder-length auburn wig needs a centre part and should look unbrushed. Light facial hair drawn in with makeup and some under-eye shading make him tired. Carry a cereal bowl, a corded phone or an oversized mug. Tie the robe securely and wear full-coverage clothes underneath, since a robe that falls open at a public party is nobody’s idea of fun. It’s cheap and warm, and it pairs well with Jody’s loud look.
15. Jody Rocker Costume

Jody gives you colour and texture with very little sewing. Start with a fitted white tank and a black or brown buttoned vest, then add low-rise black jeans or a knee-length skirt with opaque tights, and chunky ankle boots. Her hair is a short platinum crop with dark roots, so look for a rooted wig or shade the roots of a plain one with brown eyeshadow pressed in with a brush. Smoky grey eyes, black mascara, strong brows and a berry lip finish her face. Small cosmetic dots near the ears and several clip-on earrings suggest the piercings without any actual metal. A makeup case or a bright phone is a safe prop.
16. Lance And Jody Couple Costume

Lance and Jody are a good couple for people who want to be comfortable and a little odd. Lance has the faded cartoon tee, pajama pants, long robe, slippers and messy auburn wig with light stubble; Jody has the white tank, fitted vest, black jeans, chunky boots, clip-on earrings and short platinum wig with roots. Give him tired, matte skin and her the smoky eye and berry lip. Carry the cereal bowl, corded phone and makeup case between you. For outdoor events, I’d put a thermal under Lance’s tee and a fitted long-sleeve top under Jody’s vest; both disappear under the costume and keep you outside far longer.
17. Jimmie Dimmick Robe Costume

Jimmie is one of the funniest and easiest looks in the film. A plain tee and knee-length lounge shorts go under a light checked or solid bathrobe, with white crew socks and house slippers. Short dark hair kept neat, or a conservative wig, and natural matte skin with a touch of under-eye shading are enough. The prop that matters most is a big coffee mug; add an empty coffee tin or a tray of cups and a kitchen towel over one shoulder for the flustered host. Choose a robe that closes properly. He makes most sense next to Winston Wolf and the casual versions of Vincent and Jules.
18. Captain Koons Military Uniform Costume

Captain Koons is best done as a fictional vintage service uniform rather than a copy of any real insignia. An olive button-up jacket, matching straight-leg trousers, a khaki shirt and a dark tie, with polished brown lace-up boots and a plain peaked cap, give the shape. Short dark or greying hair combed neatly and a few soft lines around the eyes age him slightly. His defining prop is a gold-style wristwatch in a presentation box, and a folded handwritten letter adds to it. I leave off medals, flags and rank symbols on purpose; they can upset people who have served, and the costume doesn’t need them to read.
19. Esmarelda Villalobos Taxi Driver Costume

Esmarelda pairs a working uniform with glamorous makeup. A pale button-down under a fitted dark vest or light driver jacket, high-waisted black trousers and low block-heel ankle boots form the base, and a dark peaked cap suggests a taxi uniform without any logo. Long black hair in soft waves, defined brows, winged liner, warm blush and deep red lipstick do the glamour. A small name badge for a made-up cab company helps explain her, and a fare notebook or oversized keys make sensible props. I’d skip the cardboard steering wheel unless you’re only posing for photos; it’s awkward to carry once the party gets crowded.
20. Brett Apartment Costume

Brett is a cheap costume that leans on one food prop. A light short-sleeve button-down, relaxed khakis, white socks and brown loafers or sneakers are all you need, with the shirt a size too big for that early-1990s fit. Tidy short brown hair with a side part and a slightly flushed, nervous face finish him. Carry a plain unbranded burger box, a paper soda cup and the glowing briefcase, and hang an apartment key on a cord from the belt. Keep it clean, with no stains or effects. On his own, Brett is hard to place, so I only suggest him for groups that already include Jules, Vincent and Marvin.
21. Marvin Casual Costume

Marvin’s clothes may already be in your wardrobe: a casual collared shirt in cream, tan or pale blue, straight dark trousers, plain leather shoes and a light neutral jacket if it’s cool. Short dark hair kept close and clean, natural skin, and absolutely no scene references. Carry an apartment key ring, a folded note or a small fast-food bag, and keep the briefcase nearby for photos. Honestly, this one only works as part of a group. Stand him next to Brett, Jules and Vincent and the ordinary clothes suddenly make sense.
22. Buddy Holly Waiter Costume

The diner waiter dressed as a 1950s star is a nice solo option for someone who doesn’t want a suit or a wig. Wear a crisp white short-sleeve shirt with a slim black bow tie, high-waisted black trousers, a white waist apron, black socks and polished lace-ups. Thick black glasses and short dark hair set into a neat little curl give you the period. Define the brows so they still show above the frames. A made-up diner name badge, a notepad and pencil, and an empty tray or milkshake glass add context. Carry a light plastic tray; a real metal one gets heavy in your hand within the hour.
23. Marilyn Monroe Waitress Costume

This waitress is built on a modest white halter-style midi dress with a fitted waist and a soft flared skirt. A short white waist apron, nude tights and comfortable white or silver low heels go with it. The platinum wig should be curled into a classic 1950s shape; I set synthetic curls with foam rollers and a steamer rather than a hot iron, which can melt cheap fibre. Black winged liner, full lashes, luminous skin, rosy blush and red lipstick finish the face. Add a diner name badge, pearl studs and an empty milkshake tray. The apron and tray are what tie her to the film rather than to any old-Hollywood party.
24. Jack Rabbit Slim’s Waitstaff Group Costume

The Jack Rabbit Slim’s staff make a strong group because each person gets their own invented 1950s server. One wears a white shirt, bow tie, black trousers, glasses and waist apron. Another wears a white fit-and-flare dress, platinum curls and red lipstick. A third is the rebel in a red jacket, white tee, dark jeans and slicked hair, and a fourth hosts in a polished suit with a vintage-style microphone. Everyone carries a name badge and a menu or empty tray, and wears shoes they can stand in. I hold the group to black, white and red only. That limit does more for cohesion than any matching item, and it gets better the bigger the group.
25. Mia Wallace Movie Poster Costume

The poster version of Mia trades the white shirt for black. A sleeveless black midi dress, or a fitted black top with a tailored skirt, with a modest neckline and pointed black flats or low heels, gives the shape. The sleek bob with blunt bangs, pale matte skin, precise liner, red lipstick and matching red nails make the face. For props, carry a vintage-looking paperback with a blank custom cover and a small retro bag, or drape a red jacket over one arm for that poster red. For photos, a red cushion or a plain white wall gets the reference across without recreating the original pose.
26. Mia Wallace Twist Contest Costume

If you plan to dance all night, build Mia around movement. Choose a light white blouse with big cuffs, cropped black flares and flexible gold flats with non-slip soles; slippery soles are the first thing I check on any dance costume. A fitted black camisole underneath keeps you covered when the shirt swings. Pin the bob firmly behind the ears with a few grips through the wig cap, because a bob that slides forward mid-twist is the classic failure. Long-wear red lipstick, defined brows, subtle liner and waterproof mascara will hold up to the heat. Keep the hem above the ankle so the shoes show in photos.
27. Mia Wallace Dinner Costume With Black Jacket

A fitted black jacket in velvet or with satin trim gives Mia a warmer dinner version. It goes over the white shirt with its exaggerated cuffs and the cropped kick-flare trousers, with gold flats, stud earrings and a small structured black bag. The bob should look glossy and exact, with red lips, softly winged liner, pale matte skin and neat brows. Carry the menu or milkshake cup. Take the jacket off or wear it open for dancing so the white shirt still shows. I like this one for outdoor parties in late October, since the extra layer adds texture without breaking up her black-and-white silhouette.
28. Vincent Vega Bolo Tie Costume

Here Vincent’s bolo tie gets the spotlight, worn with a white shirt open at the neck. A rumpled black linen jacket, matching trousers, black socks and square-toe dress shoes finish the body, with the shoulder-length dark wig in a low ponytail and a few loose pieces around the face. A small hoop earring and natural matte skin with light contour keep him close to the film. You can make the bolo slide from painted cardboard on cord; I seal cardboard with a coat of clear glue first so the paint doesn’t soak in and look patchy. Linen creases on its own, which suits him. Don’t press it.
29. Jules Winnfield Casual T-Shirt Costume

Jules’s casual look is funny because it’s so awkward on him. An oversized pale blue tee with a generic cartoon-cat design, loose patterned shorts that fall near the knee, white crew socks and simple sneakers or slip-ons make the outfit. The rounded textured wig, sideburns and mustache stay the same as the suit version. Keep the shirt graphic unbranded and family-friendly; a simple iron-on transfer on a plain tee does this cheaply. Carry a coffee cup, a breakfast menu and the brown wallet, and choose shorts with real pockets. It makes the most sense next to Vincent in his yellow tee and red shorts.
30. Vincent Vega Banana Shirt Costume

Vincent’s mismatched morning outfit starts with an oversized yellow college-style tee printed with a playful banana or slug graphic, worn with loose red athletic shorts, white crew socks and worn canvas sneakers. Keep the long dark ponytail wig and the small hoop earring. A little under-eye shading on matte skin says exhausted without any graphic touches. Carry a paper coffee cup, a breakfast menu or a folded suit bag. Make sure the shorts are long enough for a public party, and add fitted cycling shorts underneath if you’ll be sitting on low sofas. It’s far cooler and easier to move in than the black suit.
31. Casual Vincent And Jules Duo Costume

This duo swaps the famous suits for clashing tees and shorts. Vincent wears the yellow college-style shirt, red athletic shorts, white socks, canvas sneakers, long ponytail and hoop earring; Jules wears the pale blue cartoon tee, patterned knee-length shorts, athletic shoes, rounded hair, sideburns and mustache. Keep both faces clean and matte. Coffee cups, diner menus and the gold briefcase carried between you tell the story. When I style this pair, I stop people from coordinating: the colours should fight. It’s comfortable for warm parties and a good surprise for anyone expecting two black suits.
32. Bonnie Situation Group Costume

Four people can play the clean-up sequence without a single graphic detail. Winston Wolf wears the tuxedo, bow tie, polished shoes and grey hair, carrying a clipboard and household gloves. Jimmie is in a tee, lounge shorts, bathrobe and slippers, with short dark hair and a coffee mug. Vincent wears the yellow tee, red shorts and ponytail, and Jules wears the pale blue cartoon tee, patterned shorts, sneakers, textured wig and mustache. Natural makeup all round. Add a cleaning checklist, a coffee tray, folded suit bags and car keys. One tuxedo surrounded by robes and shorts is a visual joke that lands across a room.
33. Main Cast Five-Person Costume

Five people can cover Mia, Vincent, Jules, Butch and Marsellus. Mia wears the white shirt, cropped black pants, gold flats, black bob and red lipstick. Vincent wears the rumpled black suit, bolo tie, dress shoes and ponytail, and Jules the sharper suit, slim tie, polished shoes, textured wig and mustache. Butch brings the satin robe, athletic shorts, training shoes, cropped hair and gold watch, and Marsellus the structured suit, overcoat, polished shoes, bald cap and neck bandage. Menus, a dance trophy, boxing gloves and the glowing briefcase are your props. I tell groups like this to share a thread of gold, in the flats, the watch and the case, so five different looks feel connected.
34. Retro Diner Six-Person Costume

Six people can turn a party into the whole diner. Two dress as Mia and Vincent in their dance outfits; two more are Pumpkin, in the Hawaiian shirt and tan trousers, and Honey Bunny, in the cardigan and muted dress. The last two are servers: one in a white shirt, bow tie, black trousers, glasses and apron, the other in a white flared dress, platinum curls, apron and red lipstick. Give everyone a different hairstyle and shoes they can stand in, and keep the makeup period but light. Menus, coffee cups, milkshake glasses, trays and the trophy fill out the scene. A booth or café table behind you makes the photo obvious.
35. Pulp Fiction Women’s Group Costume

Six friends can each take a different woman from the film: Mia, Fabienne, Honey Bunny, Jody, Trudi and Esmarelda. Mia wears the white blouse, cropped black pants, bob, red lips and gold flats. Fabienne has patterned trousers, a cardigan, short wavy hair and ankle boots. Honey Bunny wears a muted dress, cropped knit, strawberry-blonde bob and low heels, while Jody brings the tank, vest, black jeans, platinum hair and chunky boots. Trudi wears an oversized colourful tee, a mini skirt over opaque tights, bright socks and tousled hair, and Esmarelda the taxi vest, black trousers, cap, boots and red lipstick. Because the hair colours are so different, this group reads clearly even in a dark room.
36. Pulp Fiction Men’s Group Costume

Six men can cover Vincent, Jules, Butch, Marsellus, Winston Wolf and Lance. Vincent and Jules wear their contrasting black suits, ponytail for one and rounded textured hair for the other. Butch has the boxing robe, athletic shorts, training shoes and gold watch, and Marsellus the structured suit, bald cap, polished shoes, overcoat and neck bandage. Winston wears the tuxedo, bow tie and grey hair with a clipboard. Lance is the comic relief in a bathrobe, graphic tee, lounge pants, slippers and messy auburn wig. Keep every face clean. The briefcase, gloves, mug, cereal bowl and checklist make each person identifiable in a photo without anyone explaining.
37. Mia Vincent And Jules Trio Costume

Mia, Vincent and Jules together cover the three looks almost everyone knows. Mia wears the oversized white shirt, cropped kick-flares, gold flats, blunt bob, red lipstick and winged liner. Vincent has the loose black suit, white shirt, bolo tie, ponytail, hoop earring and black shoes, and Jules the fitted suit, narrow tie, rounded textured wig, mustache and glossy shoes. Mia holds the milkshake, Vincent the menu, Jules the brown wallet, with the briefcase in the middle for photos. The black and white matches without effort; it’s the three hairstyles that tell people who is who. Two suits and a jacket also mean only Mia needs a coat outside.
38. Mia And Marsellus Wallace Couple Costume

Mia and Marsellus are a less obvious couple, and a more formal one. Mia wears the black poster dress with pointed flats, red nails, the blunt bob, dramatic liner and red lipstick, carrying a paperback and a red clutch. Marsellus wears a structured black suit, white shirt, black tie, overcoat, polished shoes, bald cap and the small neck bandage, with a black folder or the briefcase. The shared black keeps the pair coordinated without matching. If people aren’t getting it, Mia can switch to the white shirt and cropped trousers, which most guests recognize faster. Keep both looks comfortable and free of anything graphic.
39. Butch And Captain Koons Watch Costume

The gold watch links two parts of Butch’s story, which makes this a nice duo for real fans. Butch wears the satin robe, white tank, athletic shorts, high socks, training sneakers and cropped hair, with a little flush on the cheeks. Captain Koons wears the olive military-style jacket, matching trousers, khaki shirt, plain tie, brown boots and an unbadged peaked cap, with light age lines and neatly combed greying hair. They share a gold-style wristwatch in a small presentation box, and Butch can add gloves and a towel. Leave out real insignia. The silhouettes couldn’t be more different, so the watch has to be seen; I’d have the captain hold it out in every photo.
40. Trudi Oversized T-Shirt Costume

Trudi is early-1990s alternative style at its most relaxed. An oversized colourful tee with a simple geometric or cartoon print, a black mini over opaque tights or loose knee-length shorts, bright crew socks and chunky sneakers or lace-up boots make the outfit. Her shoulder-length hair is messy and slightly crimped. A cheap brunette or auburn wig can be crimped with a few small braids and a steamer instead of a hot tool. Smudged liner, pink blush and a neutral lip, plus stacked plastic bangles and ear cuffs, finish her. Carry a cereal bowl or a compact mirror. She makes sense beside Jody and Lance.
41. Maynard Shopkeeper Costume

Maynard can be done as plain, non-threatening shop workwear. A faded plaid button-down, dark straight work pants, a canvas apron or sleeveless utility vest and sturdy brown boots set the look. Short, slightly messy hair and a few soft age lines are enough on the face. Carry a big key ring, a receipt book, a tape measure and a cardboard shop sign, with a pencil tucked behind one ear. Leave out anything connected to his darker scenes. I’d pick soft workwear over real heavy canvas, which is stiff and hot indoors, and keep him for a big cast group where context explains who he is.
42. Raquel Scrapyard Costume

Raquel is the capable workwear option. A fitted denim or chambray shirt with the sleeves rolled, high-waisted dark jeans, a canvas utility vest, lace-up work boots and a wide belt build the base. Her dark hair should be a full shoulder-length 1990s blowout, which a set of big velcro rollers gives you on a synthetic wig without heat. Defined brows, brown liner, warm blush and a muted brick lip finish her. Carry a clipboard, an oversized key ring and a made-up vehicle receipt, with work gloves tucked into the belt. She reads best beside Winston Wolf, Jimmie and the casual Vincent and Jules.
43. Two Pulp Fiction Couples Group Costume

Two couples from the diner give you an easy four-person group. Mia wears the white shirt, cropped black trousers, gold flats, blunt bob and red lipstick, and Vincent the rumpled black suit, bolo tie, black shoes and ponytail. Pumpkin has the earthy Hawaiian shirt, black tee, tan pants and leather shoes; Honey Bunny wears a muted dress or fitted top with a cropped cardigan, tights, low heels and the strawberry-blonde bob. Stronger red lips for Mia, smudged liner for Honey Bunny, clean faces for the men. Milkshakes, menus, coffee mugs and the trophy join the two pairs, since their clothes have almost nothing in common.
44. Gender-Swapped Mia And Vincent Costume

Swapping genders keeps every signature but changes the tailoring. The person playing Mia can wear a men’s-cut oversized white shirt, cropped black trousers, gold loafers, a blunt chin-length wig, red lip tint and lightly defined eyes. The person playing Vincent can wear a fitted black pantsuit, white shirt, bolo tie, black ankle boots, hoop earrings and the long dark ponytail. Carry the milkshake, the menu and the small trophy. I’d check that both outfits still allow the dance moves, since a fitted pantsuit can be tighter through the arms than a man’s loose jacket. Fashion tape and stretch fabric help each person keep the coverage and fit they want.
45. Family-Friendly Retro Diner Group Costume

A family can do the diner without dressing children as anyone from the crime story. The adults take the dance-couple outfits: the white blouse with cropped black trousers, and the black suit with a bolo tie. Children become cheerful retro servers in white shirts, bow ties, colourful skirts or black trousers, waist aprons, bobby socks and sneakers. Another family member can host in a neat suit with a cardboard microphone. Soft curls and tidy side parts for everyone, red lipstick for the adults and only a little makeup for the kids. Plastic milkshake cups, menus and trays are kid-proof props, and this version suits school or neighbourhood parties.
Wigs Doing Most of the Work in This Film
Hair carries these characters more than clothes do. Put a white shirt on anyone and it’s just a shirt. Add a blunt black bob and it’s Mia. That’s why I tell people to spend more on wigs than on anything else here.
The Mia bob
Look for a straight synthetic bob with thick, blunt bangs. Cheap ones often have thin, see-through bangs that split apart. Trim the bangs with the wig on your head, cutting into the ends with the scissor tips rather than straight across, so they don’t look chopped. A wig cap and two or three grips at the nape keep it from creeping forward when you dance.
Vincent’s ponytail and Jules’s curls
For Vincent, a shoulder-length dark wig smoothed back with a little gel or hairspray and tied low gives the right shape; leave a couple of loose pieces at the temples. For Jules, buy a rounded textured wig that’s already shaped rather than trying to set curls yourself. Synthetic fibre melts under a standard hot tool, so any reshaping should be done with steam or a cool setting on a heat-friendly wig.
Wiring a Glowing Briefcase That Lasts All Night
The gold glow is the most useful prop in this whole post, since it fits Vincent, Jules, Marsellus, Brett and every group. A hard-shell case from a charity shop is the base. Line the bottom with crumpled gold foil or gold tissue, then lay a string of battery LED fairy lights or a stick-on puck light underneath. Warm white LEDs behind yellow tissue give the right amber glow; cool white looks blue in photos. Tape the battery pack to the lid so you can switch it off between photos and save the batteries. Battery LEDs barely get warm, which is why I use them instead of anything that plugs in or heats up.
Mia First, Then Build the Room Around Her
Almost every Pulp Fiction look comes down to the right hair and one clear prop. A white shirt and a black bob are Mia; a ponytail, a textured wig or a glowing case turns an ordinary suit into Vincent, Jules or Marsellus. If you want to stand out from the crowd of Mias, Fabienne, Winston Wolf, Jody, Lance and the diner servers are much rarer at parties. Wear shoes you can dance in, keep the makeup clean and choose props light enough to carry for hours. For couples and groups, agree on a shared colour or a shared prop before anyone shops. Start with the thrift rack and spend what’s left on wigs.
