Most people own one pair of UGG boots and wear them with exactly one outfit: leggings and whatever sweatshirt is clean. I get it. But these boots go further than that once you sort out two things, the height of the boot against your hem and how much structure sits above it. Below are twenty fall outfits I'd actually put together for clients, from straight jeans with a trench to a satin skirt with platforms. Each one includes the full outfit, from the coat down, and a note on what tends to go wrong.

Which UGG Height Works With Which Hem
Before I plan any outfit around these boots, I look at which height the client owns, because each one changes what can go above it.
- Ultra Mini: the shortest, sitting just over the ankle bone. It suits cropped jeans, flares and midi skirts, and it's the most flattering height on petite frames because it leaves the most leg showing.
- Classic Mini: a touch taller, roughly at the top of the ankle. Straight jeans can rest lightly over it, and short skirts with tights look balanced.
- Classic Short and Tall: mid-shin to just under the knee. Tuck slim jeans or leggings in, and keep skirts and dresses short enough to show a gap above the boot.
- Platforms: the sole adds height but also bulk, so pair them with wider legs and longer hems that would swamp a flat boot.
If you're shopping for a first pair and want the most outfits out of it, I'd usually point you to a Mini or Ultra Mini in chestnut or black. Tall boots are warmer, but they rule out most wide-leg pants.
1. UGG Boots With Leggings And Oversized Sweater

Leggings with an oversized sweater is the classic for a reason, but the sweater does most of the work. I look for an oatmeal knit with a little body to it, one that ends at the hip or mid-thigh rather than hanging to the knee. Tan Classic Minis or Ultra Minis keep the bottom light; tall boots plus a long sweater can feel like a lot of fabric. A white crew-neck tee peeking at the hem is optional. Ribbed socks, a roomy brown tote, hoops and a quilted jacket for cold mornings finish it. On petite clients, mid-thigh is the length I'd stop at.
2. UGG Boots With Straight Leg Jeans And Trench Coat

Can UGGs look polished? Yes, and a trench is how I prove it. Tan Ultra Minis with straight-leg blue jeans, the hem just touching or resting over the boot collar, then a fitted white tee or fine-knit sweater. The camel trench supplies the structure the boots lack. A black leather shoulder bag, tortoiseshell sunglasses and small gold earrings finish it. Long jeans get one neat cuff, not a pile of fabric at the ankle. You can walk all day in this and still look put together at lunch.
3. UGG Boots With Baggy Jeans And Puffer Jacket

Baggy jeans and a puffer are both wide, so something in the middle has to be narrow. Here it's a fitted gray long-sleeve and a cropped black puffer that stops at the waist. Black Mini UGGs disappear into a darker wash, which makes the leg look continuous. Watch the length: the jeans should skim the boot, because a hem that drags gets wet, dirty and frayed within a week. A compact crossbody, a cap and silver studs keep it sporty. I'd also point out that black suede forgives scuffs far better than light tan.
4. Platform UGG Boots With Sweater Dress And Vest

Platform UGGs under a ribbed sweater dress give the skirt something to balance against. I'd pick a midi in olive, chocolate or charcoal with a straight or softly fitted shape, then a cream quilted vest so your arms stay free while your core stays warm. Sand platforms sit under the hem. Leave a few inches of leg or tight between the dress and boot; if the dress touches the boot top, the whole lower half reads as one heavy block. A cognac bag and brushed gold jewelry finish it, and a wide belt helps if the knit is shapeless. Opaque tights and a long wool coat take it into November.
5. UGG Boots With Denim Skirt And Long Sleeve Top

A short denim skirt with Classic Minis has a definite early-2000s feel, and I think it works best when you lean into it lightly. Keep the skirt straight or A-line above the knee, and the top fitted: a long-sleeve in burgundy, cream or chocolate. Tall ribbed socks peeking over the boot add warmth. A cropped suede jacket, small shoulder bag and sunglasses finish it. If a short skirt isn't you, a knee-length denim skirt with a front slit gives the same idea with more coverage. Bulky tops are the risk here, since they make the waist vanish.
6. UGG Boots With Wide Leg Trousers And Cardigan

Soft tailoring with suede boots surprises people, and it's one of my favorite ways to wear Ultra Minis to a relaxed office. The trousers need a fluid drape in taupe or charcoal and a hem that shows the front of the boot. A fitted neutral tank or short-sleeve knit goes under a relaxed button cardigan, and chestnut boots warm up the gray. I avoid crisp suiting fabric here; brushed wool blends and soft flannel sit better next to suede than shiny worsted does. A structured tote and pearl or gold earrings sharpen the look.
7. UGG Boots With Leggings And Plaid Shacket

Plaid, leggings and suede boots is about as fall as it gets, so I keep the details simple. A long white or gray tee that covers the seat, matte black leggings, chestnut Classic Minis, and an oversized shacket in brown, cream, olive or rust. On curvier figures I leave the shacket open; the two open edges draw a long line straight down the body. Medium-weight flannel moves better than a stiff, heavy one. A black crossbody, ribbed beanie and fine pendant are enough. This is my apple-picking default.
8. UGG Boots With Cargo Pants And Hoodie

Cargo pants and a hoodie with platform UGGs can look like pajamas if the colors scatter. I hold it to three main colors: olive or stone cargos with chestnut suede, or black cargos with black boots. A fitted tank underneath lets you take the hoodie off when the afternoon warms, and a cropped bomber goes over it without hiding the pockets. Cinched cargo hems should sit above the boot opening; straight hems can rest lightly over it. A nylon shoulder bag and plain cap finish it. Good for travel and long errand days.
9. UGG Boots With Midi Skirt And Turtleneck

Midi skirt, tucked turtleneck, UGGs. The tuck is what keeps it from looking shapeless. Choose a pleated, knit or gently flared skirt in black, camel or deep green, then tuck a fitted cream turtleneck and add a cropped cardigan or short wool jacket. Black Ultra Minis ground a dark skirt; chestnut sits better with earth tones. Keep a visible gap between hem and boot. With petite clients I usually stop the skirt just below the knee, because an ankle-length skirt with flat boots can shorten the frame. A structured handbag and small earrings finish it.
10. UGG Boots With Matching Knit Set

Matching knit sets are easy to wear and easy to get wrong in public. The fix is a structured coat. Wide-leg knit pants and a relaxed pullover in cream, heather gray or mocha, tonal Ultra Minis, then a camel wool coat over the top. Tonal boots keep the line long from waist to floor. Check the pant length: it shouldn't swallow the whole boot or touch the ground, and a slightly cropped hem keeps knit from soaking up rain. A large tote, clean gold jewelry and a light scarf finish it. I reach for this on flights.
11. UGG Boots With Flare Leggings And Fleece Jacket

Flare leggings with black platform Ultra Minis are where I'd send anyone bored of skinny leggings. The flare should fall close to the floor without covering the sole, and the fabric needs to be thick and matte; thin, shiny leggings show every line. A fitted white long-sleeve contrasts with the wider leg, and a cropped cream fleece shows off the waist. A belt bag worn crossbody, studs and a sleek ponytail or cap finish it. This one moves well, so it's good for walking days or breakfast after a light workout.
12. Tall UGG Boots With Skinny Jeans And Peacoat

Tall UGGs carry a lot more visual weight than Minis, so everything above them should be close and clean. Tuck dark skinny jeans into chestnut tall boots and smooth the denim before you zip yourself into the rest; wrinkles show through the soft shaft. A fine-knit cream sweater and a navy or camel peacoat that ends at the upper thigh give a classic cold-weather shape. A medium structured handbag and plaid scarf finish it. Late fall is when this comes out, since tall boots keep your shins warm at outdoor markets. Bulky layers are what date it.
13. UGG Boots With Corduroy Pants And Cable Knit Sweater

Corduroy, cable knit and suede: three textures, so I keep the colors quiet. Straight-leg cords in rust, olive, chocolate or warm beige with an ivory cable sweater that's relaxed but not huge. Chestnut Minis sit under a slightly cropped hem, which matters because cord is thick and stacks badly. A partial front tuck shows the waist without making a chunky knit stiff. A brown crossbody, small gold hoops and a wool coat on cooler days finish it. Avoid prints here; the textures are already doing enough.
14. UGG Boots With Denim Overalls And Striped Sweater

Overalls lean young fast, so the pieces around them should be grown-up. I choose straight-leg overalls in medium or dark denim with little or no distressing, then a fitted cream-and-black striped sweater underneath. Roll the hems once to show chestnut Ultra Minis and give a clean break at the ankle. Adjust the straps so the bib lies flat against the torso; a sagging bib is what makes overalls look sloppy. A camel cardigan or quilted jacket goes on when it cools, plus a compact backpack and small hoops.
15. UGG Boots With Leather Look Pants And Blazer

Soft suede against coated black pants and a blazer gives this outfit an edge the others don't have. Pick straight coated pants or faux-leather leggings in a matte finish; high gloss looks costume-like in daylight. A white tee or fitted gray knit is the base, black platform UGGs keep the lower half continuous, and an oversized charcoal or camel blazer goes on top. A structured shoulder bag, a simple necklace and dark sunglasses finish it. Faux leather doesn't breathe much, so it's a cool-day pick. Good for gallery visits or a casual evening out.
16. UGG Boots With Denim Maxi Skirt And Crewneck Sweater

The slit is the first thing I check on a denim maxi, front or back, because heavy denim without one makes you shuffle. Pick a straight skirt and a crew-neck sweater in gray, cream, burgundy or navy. Tan Minis lighten all that denim and should still show under the hem; if the skirt hides them or drags on the ground, it needs taking up. A partial tuck gives you a waist, then add a compact crossbody and minimal gold jewelry. A cropped utility jacket adds warmth without fighting the skirt's length.
17. UGG Boots With Biker Shorts And Sweatshirt

Early fall often swings from cool morning to warm afternoon, and this outfit handles both. Black high-rise biker shorts long enough to stay put when you walk, an oversized gray, navy or forest-green sweatshirt ending below the hips, and chestnut Ultra Minis with white crew socks showing. Add a fitted tank underneath so you can strip down to it later. A canvas tote, cap and small earrings finish it. I'd only wear this in the warm stretch of the season; once it's properly cold, bare legs and sheepskin feel mismatched.
18. UGG Boots With Satin Midi Skirt And Chunky Sweater

A bias-cut satin midi swings as you walk, and platform UGGs give it a weighty base to swing above. Choose chocolate, champagne, olive or black, then a chunky cream sweater with a small front tuck. Keep sweater and boots in one neutral family so the contrast is in the textures, not the colors. Satin clings to tights in dry weather, so an anti-static spray or a half slip helps. A softly structured shoulder bag, delicate earrings and a long wool coat on cold days finish it. It's my pick for a casual celebration in comfortable shoes.
19. UGG Boots With Cream Jeans And Neutral Layers

Cream jeans with sand UGGs make a soft, light outfit, but only if the tones vary a little. Start with cream straight-leg jeans and an ivory fitted knit, then a beige cardigan or oatmeal wool coat, then sand Ultra Minis. Slightly different shades give depth while the overall effect stays monochrome. I always check light denim in daylight; thin cream fabric can show pockets and underwear lines. A taupe bag, gold jewelry and a lightly patterned scarf finish it. If you want more contrast, a chocolate coat or bag does it.
20. Black UGG Boots With All Black Outfit

All black is the outfit I'd repeat most often, because it never needs thinking about. Black Mini or platform UGGs, straight black jeans or thick matte leggings, a black turtleneck, and a cropped puffer or long wool coat depending on the weather. Interest comes from texture: suede, denim, rib and quilting. A black shoulder bag with silver hardware and simple metal earrings finish it. Check every piece in daylight before you leave, since faded black next to fresh black looks brown or gray and breaks the line.
Can You Wear UGGs to a Casual Office?
In a relaxed workplace, often yes, but the rest of the outfit has to carry the polish. I tell clients to treat the boots as the one casual piece and keep everything else tidy: trousers with a proper drape, a knit without pilling, a structured bag, a coat with shoulders. Several outfits above already do this, especially the wide-leg trousers with a cardigan, the trench with straight jeans and the blazer with coated pants.
A few rules keep it work-appropriate. Choose black or chestnut over sand or pink, since dark suede reads more formal. Brush the boots so the nap looks even, and retire a pair once the heels are collapsed or the toes are stained. Skip visible sport socks. And if your office has client meetings or a written dress code that asks for closed leather shoes, keep a pair of loafers under the desk and wear the UGGs for the commute only.
When I'd Leave Them at Home
Interviews, formal presentations and anything business formal. Sheepskin boots also get warm in a heated building over a full day, so if you run hot, the commute-only swap is more comfortable anyway.
Start With the Hem, Then the Boot
UGG boots work with far more than leggings and sweatshirts once you pay attention to where your hem falls against the boot. Get that right and jeans, skirts, knit sets and even a blazer sit comfortably with them. Repeating one boot color somewhere higher up, in a bag, jacket or scarf, connects soft footwear to the rest of the outfit. Then be honest about your weather and your week. Pick two or three of these outfits that use what's already in your closet and wear them until you know which ones you keep reaching for.
