Packing for a trip gets harder when most travel clothes seem cut for a straight frame. Curvy women I dress usually have the same worries: will it cling in the heat, will the straps hold, will my thighs survive a day of walking? Good vacation clothes answer all three before style even comes into it. The 30 outfits below cover beach mornings, long sightseeing days and resort dinners, and with each one I've noted what to check on the garment so it works for a fuller bust, hip or thigh.

Heat, Chafing and Straps: Plan for These First
Before I think about prints or accessories for a curvy client's trip, I solve the three things that ruin vacation days. Get these right and almost any outfit below will work for you.
Thigh chafing
Long walking days in heat are when inner thighs rub raw. Pack a pair of lightweight anti-chafe shorts to wear under every dress and skirt, or an anti-chafe balm for days in shorts. Slip shorts in a breathable nylon blend are thinner than cycling shorts and don't show under a maxi.
Bust support in summer cuts
Halters, off-shoulder tops and strapless rompers need a plan. A multiway bra with a wide band and side boning covers most of them. Try it with each outfit at home, not on the first night of the trip.
Fabric that copes with humidity
Linen, cotton voile, rayon and good crepe all let air through. Polyester chiffon and tight stretch knits trap heat against the body. In very humid places, looser cuts beat fitted ones, and darker or printed fabrics hide sweat marks better than pale solids.
1. Floral Maxi Dress Vacation Outfit

A floral maxi is the dress I'd pack first. It should skim the hips and thighs rather than cling, with an empire seam or wrap detail at the narrowest point of your torso. Cotton or rayon in a bright bloom; rayon drapes more softly but wrinkles in a suitcase, so hang it in the bathroom while you shower. Flat strappy sandals for walking, a wide straw hat, a woven crossbody and small gold hoops. From an afternoon market to a casual seaside dinner, it barely needs changing.
2. Swimsuit with Kimono Cover-Up Vacation Outfit

Choose a supportive one-piece first, because everything else depends on it. Then the swimsuit layered under a floaty kimono gives you coverage where you want it while still showing shape. Look for a suit with an underwire or a shelf bra and wide straps if you have a full bust; thin ties dig in after a few hours. A sheer chiffon or light crepe kimono, oversized sunglasses, a woven tote for sunscreen and a book, and chunky flat sandals for the walk to the pool bar.
3. Wide-Leg Linen Pants Vacation Outfit

For hot city days with a lot of walking, high-waisted cream linen wide-legs are my answer. A fitted ribbed tank tucked in balances the volume and shows the waist. Wide legs also keep the thighs from rubbing, which skinny styles can't. White leather sneakers handle cobblestones and museum floors; a sleek crossbody sits close to the body. Linen dries fast after a sweaty afternoon, though light colors show sweat marks at first, so a slightly thicker weave helps.
4. Wrap Jumpsuit Vacation Outfit

A wrap jumpsuit does a lot of the work for you. The V-neck lengthens the neck and the wrap waist creates an hourglass line. The one thing to check on a curvy frame is the torso length: if it's too short, the crotch pulls and the wrap gapes when you sit. Navy, olive or burgundy crepe, heeled strappy sandals, sculptural gold or acrylic earrings and a structured mini bag. Resort dinners and an evening of dancing.
5. Polka Dot Midi Dress Vacation Outfit

Polka dots bring a bit of retro fun. A polka dot midi dress in black-and-white or navy-and-cream, with a defined waist and a gentle A-line skirt that swings as you walk. Medium-sized dots look balanced on a curvy figure; very large dots can widen. Flat espadrilles, a straw clutch, pearl studs or a silk headband. A cropped denim jacket over the shoulders for the evening breeze.
6. Tropical Print Romper Vacation Outfit

Rompers are easy until you need the bathroom, so I always look for one with a button front or a wrap top you can manage quickly. A relaxed tropical print with a stretchy waist and a soft V-neck. Check the rise: on curvy hips, a short-rise romper pulls up uncomfortably. Flat slides, a straw fedora, small studs and a big beach tote for poolside lunches.
7. High-Waisted Shorts Vacation Outfit

High-waisted denim shorts with some stretch and a cropped blouse tucked in make a balanced shape. A ditsy floral or pastel stripe on top. Inner thighs are the issue on long walking days, so a slightly longer inseam, around five inches, or anti-chafe shorts underneath makes it bearable. Espadrille wedges add height; a woven belt with a wooden buckle ties it together. Slim gold rings and round sunglasses for a beach-town day.
8. Sundress with Denim Jacket Vacation Outfit

Air-conditioned restaurants and windy ferry rides are where a sundress needs a jacket. A soft pastel cotton or chambray dress that floats away from the body, with a cropped denim jacket to define the waist. Cropped denim jackets often pull across the bust if they're cut straight; try it buttoned before buying, even if you'll wear it open. Flat gladiator sandals or white sneakers, a tan crossbody, hoops and a low bun.
9. White Linen Dress Vacation Outfit

A white linen dress works in every hot destination. Button-front shirt dress or tiered, linen breathes and softens with every wash. White linen can be see-through in bright sun, so I'd check it against a window and pack a nude slip. Flat tan sandals, a woven tote, a gold pendant, tortoiseshell sunglasses and a coral lip. For evening, swap to low wedge espadrilles and put a light linen blazer over your shoulders.
10. Off-Shoulder Top and Palazzo Pants Vacation Outfit

An off-shoulder top with palazzo pants makes a long, unbroken line. The neckline shows the collarbone; the wide palazzos in rayon or crepe skim the hips. With a full bust, an elastic off-shoulder neckline can slip down, so look for one with silicone grip inside or wear a strapless bra with good band support. Blush and cream, or coral and navy. Strappy flat sandals, a beaded necklace and a round rattan bag for sunset strolls and open-air dinners.
11. Linen Shirt Dress Vacation Outfit

A linen shirt dress is probably the hardest-working piece in the suitcase. Open, it's a cover-up over swimwear; buttoned, it's a lunch dress; open again over trousers, it's a long layer for cool evenings. Gaping between buttons at the bust is common, so size for the bust and belt in the waist with a braided leather belt. Espadrille wedges, a bright canvas tote and minimal gold. Sand, sage or terracotta.
12. Bardot Top and Wide-Leg Trousers Vacation Outfit

A printed Bardot top tucked into high-waisted cream or ivory wide-legs feels European without trying. The off-shoulder neckline frames the face and décolletage; a slight front tuck keeps the line clean. Bardot tops need structure across the band, so I prefer ones with elastic channels rather than a simple gather. Flat strappy leather sandals, a rattan clutch and gold shoulder-duster earrings. Gallery visits, wine tasting and long lunches.
13. Tiered Maxi Skirt Vacation Outfit

A tiered maxi skirt sways with every step, and that movement is what makes it fun. Bold solid or tropical print, with a fitted ribbed tank tucked all the way in. The fitted top balances the volume of the tiers, which is why I'd never pair this skirt with a loose top. Toe-ring flat sandals, a raffia tote, beaded bracelets and a wide-brim hat for beach markets and boardwalks.
14. One-Piece Swimsuit and Sarong Vacation Outfit

A sculpting one-piece in bold stripes or a rich tropical print becomes a whole outfit with a sarong. Tie a colorful sarong in chiffon or cotton voile high on the waist, with the knot at the side to lengthen the leg line. Cotton voile is the better choice in strong sun, because chiffon is usually polyester and feels hot. Flip-flops or flat sandals, big hoops, a straw hat and a mesh beach tote.
15. Linen Co-Ord Set Vacation Outfit

A matching linen co-ord is two outfits plus a third. Wear the button-front crop top and wide-leg pants together, or split them: the top with denim shorts, the pants with a tank. Emerald, terracotta or sage. Cropped tops on a curvy frame look best when they end right at the high waistband of the trousers, not above it. Flat leather slides, a woven crossbody and thin gold hoops. Sightseeing, brunch and travel days.
16. Sequin Midi Skirt Vacation Outfit

A sequin midi skirt in champagne, rose gold or navy brings evening sparkle. Keep the top simple, a fitted cami or soft cotton tank. Sequins add visual volume, so a skirt with a fitted yoke at the hip and flare below the knee flatters more than an all-over gathered one. Heeled strappy sandals, a metallic clutch, one cuff or slim drops. Rooftop bars and sunset dinners.
17. Crochet Cover-Up Vacation Outfit

A crochet cover-up over your swimsuit is the boho beach look. Knee or midi length in ivory or ecru, letting a colorful suit show through. Crochet stretches when wet and can drop several inches, so keep it out of the water and dry it flat. Flat sandals or flip-flops, layered beaded necklaces, thin gold rings, a straw hat and round sunglasses. Slip on a simple underdress and it works for lunch at a beach café.
18. Wrap Maxi Dress Vacation Outfit

A wrap maxi suits curves better than almost any other dress, because you decide exactly where the waist goes. Watercolor florals, abstract prints or jewel tones in jersey or crepe that drapes. Jersey wraps can slip open as you walk; a small snap at the cross point fixes that for good. Wedge sandals give height and stay stable on uneven ground. Chandelier earrings, a wooden bangle and a neutral leather clutch for sunset or anniversary dinners.
19. Belted Jumpsuit Vacation Outfit

A belted jumpsuit in teal, coral or cobalt is one step to dressed. The belt sets the waist, and the wide-leg pant design makes a long, statuesque line. Mechanical stretch, the kind woven into the fabric rather than added elastane, lets you sit and eat comfortably without bagging. Neutral heeled mules, a structured top-handle bag and minimal silver. Resort dinners and gallery openings.
20. Kimono and Denim Shorts Vacation Outfit

A printed kimono over denim shorts is the easiest casual formula. A fitted solid tank or bodysuit tucked into stretchy high-waisted shorts, then a floral or geometric kimono floating over it. The open kimono creates two vertical lines down the body, which lengthens the frame. Bodysuits stay tucked better than tanks on a long day. Flat gladiators or slides, anklets, thin bracelets and a woven leather crossbody.
21. Ribbed Knit Two-Piece Vacation Outfit

A ribbed knit two-piece, cropped tank or short-sleeve top with a matching midi skirt, is the comfiest outfit here. Vertical ribs lengthen the body and the stretch moves with you. Ribbed knit shows lumps underneath, so smooth shapewear or underwear without visible edges helps. Caramel, dusty rose or olive. White low-tops, layered gold chains and a belt bag. Travel days and museum mornings.
22. Button-Up Shirt Set Vacation Outfit

A button-up shirt and shorts set can be worn three ways: fully buttoned and tucked, open over a crop top, or knotted at the front. Shorts with an elastic back waistband stay comfortable all day without digging in. Platform slides add height. A canvas tote and a skinny silk scarf at the neck or on the bag handle. A crisp stripe or solid pastel mixes with the most other pieces.
23. Off-Shoulder Romper Vacation Outfit

An off-shoulder romper feels flirty in the heat. The attached shorts mean you can move, bend and dance without thinking about a hemline. Elasticated neckline and waist are must-haves so it stays put. A strapless bra with a wide band and side boning holds better than a basic one under this. Wedge espadrilles for evening, tassel earrings, a woven clutch and a bright lip. Beach club parties and rooftop drinks.
24. Embroidered Kaftan Vacation Outfit

A beautifully embroidered kaftan is the most relaxed luxury on the list. Loose, flowing, and cool, with embroidery at the neckline, cuffs or hem doing the dressing up. Wear it alone for a poolside lunch, or open over a swimsuit and linen trousers. Cotton kaftans breathe better than polyester ones in real heat. Flat jeweled sandals, resin earrings, thin bangles and a metallic pouch.
25. Pleated Midi Skirt Vacation Outfit

A pleated midi in pastel or metallic catches the breeze and the light as you walk. A simple sleeveless knit top tucked in keeps the focus on the skirt. Accordion pleats can flare out over the hip; I'd look for pleats stitched flat for a few inches below the waistband. Flat mules, a thin leather belt, a delicate pendant, small studs and a structured mini bag. Museums and dinners with a smarter dress code.
26. Cotton Voile Maxi Dress Vacation Outfit

On the hottest days, a cotton voile maxi is the lightest thing you can wear. The fabric is so fine it almost floats, giving coverage without weight. Pin-tucking, small ruffles or a gentle tier add interest. Voile is sheer, so look for one with a lining at least to the hip. Flat thong sandals, a long beaded pendant for a vertical line, a canvas crossbody, tortoiseshell sunglasses and a low bun for market mornings and long brunches.
27. Halter Neck Jumpsuit Vacation Outfit

A halter jumpsuit shows off the shoulders and back. The halter draws the eye up and the wide legs give a long line. For a full bust, choose one with a built-in bra or a wide halter band; a thin tie at the neck strains and gives you a sore neck by dessert. Fluid crepe or satin-backed fabric in emerald, midnight blue or terracotta. Metallic heeled sandals, a box clutch and crystal drops for destination dinners and anniversaries.
28. Palazzo Pants and Crochet Top Vacation Outfit

Airy palazzo pants with a delicate crochet top mix texture and movement. Solid-color palazzos skim the hips; the crochet top adds a handcrafted touch. A fitted camisole underneath gives coverage and lets the pattern show. Crochet tops stretch at the hem with wear, so fold them rather than hanging. Flat sandals with ankle ties, a fringed crossbody, beaded bracelets and thin hoops for open-air concerts and resort evenings.
29. Wide-Leg Jeans and Blouse Vacation Outfit

Jeans belong in a vacation bag, and wide-legs are the shape to pack. Light wash, high waist that hugs the curves, then a sweeping leg. Curvy fits with a contoured waistband stop the gap at the back that straight-cut jeans often leave. A silky printed blouse with small puff sleeves tucked in, block-heel sandals, a tan leather shoulder bag and gold chains. Evening museum hours, wine bars and city trips.
30. Sheer Cover-Up Dress Vacation Outfit

Finish the trip with a sheer cover-up that makes the swimsuit look like an outfit. A floor-length mesh or chiffon dress with an open front or button-through design moves in the breeze, with your one-piece or bikini showing underneath. Dark-colored suits under a sheer layer look more polished than bright ones. Flat strappy sandals, a shell necklace, anklets, polarized sunglasses and a wide hat. Last beach walks and farewell photos.
Turning Eight Pieces Into a Week of Outfits
You don't need 30 outfits for one trip. For a week somewhere warm, I'd pack roughly this and mix it daily.
- One linen co-ord set, worn together and apart.
- One wrap maxi dress for dinners.
- One linen shirt dress that doubles as a cover-up.
- Two tanks or bodysuits in neutral colors.
- One pair of wide-leg linen pants or light wide-leg jeans.
- One supportive swimsuit plus a kimono or sarong.
- One pair of walking sneakers, one pair of flat sandals and one pair of wedges.
Keep the colors in one family, for example sand, white, terracotta and one print that uses them, so every top works with every bottom. Roll linen rather than folding it to cut down on hard creases, and put anything delicate, like sequins or crochet, in a separate pouch so it doesn't snag on zippers.
Shoes are where most trips go wrong. Feet swell in heat and after flights, so sandals that fit perfectly at home can pinch by the second day. Wear every pair for a full afternoon before you leave, choose straps that adjust, and pack plasters for the first long walk. A cushioned flat sandal with a back strap will carry you further over cobbles and sand than a slide that grips only at the toes.
Pack for the Heat and the Fit, Then Forget About It
Packing as a curvy woman shouldn't mean choosing between comfort and style. What every outfit above has in common is fabric that breathes, a waist you can find, and a cut that fits the bust and hips at the same time. Start with the pieces that do double duty, the shirt dress, the co-ord, the wrap maxi, then add one or two evening looks. Check the straps, plan for the heat, and spend the trip enjoying it rather than adjusting your clothes.
