Rihanna's spring dressing breaks most of the rules I'd normally give a client, and that's exactly why it's useful to study. Once the heavy layers come off, she goes for sheer fabric, loud color, oversized shapes and sportswear mixed with real glamour. One week it's a neon ruffled skirt in Barbados, the next it's low-slung jeans and a pink hoodie on an errand run in LA. Below are 25 of her spring looks, with notes on why each one works and how I'd adapt it for a normal day, including the many she wore while pregnant, which are full of ideas for anyone dressing a bump or a postpartum body.

Turning a Celebrity Look Into Something You'll Wear on a Tuesday
Almost none of these outfits are meant to be copied piece for piece, and most of the designer items are long gone. When I translate a celebrity look for real life, I work through it in the same order every time.
- Name the one idea that makes it work. Usually it's a single move: a repeated color, a sporty shoe under a dressy piece, or a coat worn as a dress.
- Find that idea in your own wardrobe first. A lime sneaker you already own matters more than a sheer skirt you'd have to buy.
- Keep her proportions, not her items. If the jacket is huge, the trousers are slim; if the skirt is full, the top is fitted. That balance is what reads as stylish.
- Lower the volume by one notch. Swap sheer for a lined version, a stiletto for a block heel, or three layers for two.
- Only then shop for the missing piece, and choose the version that works with at least three things you own.
Done this way, a red-carpet look becomes a reliable outfit rather than something that sits in the wardrobe with the tags on.
1. Patchwork Jersey Top With Sheer Maxi Skirt and Lime Sneakers

For a Fenty x Puma event in Barbados, she wore a Xuly.Bet top pieced together from three sports jerseys over two sheer lime ruffle maxi skirts by Molly Goddard, with a neon bikini top showing through. Lime Fenty x Puma Avanti sneakers matched the skirts, and a Sabyasachi diamond chain sat on top. What stops this from looking chaotic is the single lime thread running from skirt to shoe. If I'm recreating it, I keep one repeated color and let everything else clash. A sheer tulle skirt over a swimsuit or bodysuit gets you most of the effect.
2. Burgundy Tank Top With Balloon Jeans and Pointed Stilettos

This look is a clean example of what stylists call sandwich dressing: a burgundy tank repeated in pointed burgundy stilettos, with the jeans in between. The balloon jeans curve out from the hip and taper at the ankle, a shape that suits straight and athletic figures best; on very petite frames the volume can swallow the leg, so I'd shorten the hem to show the shoe. She added a pearl necklace, a wide chain with an openwork medallion and acetate aviator sunglasses with orange-tinted lenses. A straight midi bob and a lined brown lip kept it quietly polished.
3. Snake Print Bomber Jacket With Flare Jeans and Pointed Boots

Out in Santa Monica in early April, she wore a gray snake-print bomber jacket with Celine flare jeans and pointed boots in a matching snake texture. A plain white tee under the open jacket keeps it casual. Snake reads cooler and more grown-up than leopard, and grey snake is far easier to wear than the brown versions. When I style printed outerwear, I keep one other piece in the same print at most, here the boots, so it looks planned. Dark sunglasses and slicked-back hair finish it.
4. Sheer Mermaid Dress With Woven Crochet Bodice and Bow Sandals

At a Fenty Beauty store opening in Barbados, she wore a sheer Zimmermann dress with crochet panels across the bust and huge sheer sleeves that ran into a train. Black Cult Gaia flat sandals with bows let it move in the breeze. Natural hair and makeup kept it fresh. The practical lesson is the flats: a dress this dramatic looks more relaxed with a flat shoe, and you can actually walk on sand. For everyday wear, I'd pick a crochet-panel maxi with a slip underneath rather than full sheer.
5. Lemon Yellow Zimmermann Chiffon Dress With Black Sandals

Promoting Fenty Beauty in Barbados again, she chose a lemon-yellow Zimmermann chiffon dress with a knitted bodice and a high-low hem that showed black sandals and a white pedicure. The color is what makes it spring. Pale yellow is hard on some skin tones, so I hold it near the face in daylight before buying; if it drains you, a deeper butter or mustard is kinder. Her glowy makeup and curly bob kept the attention on the dress. One strong dress and plain sandals is a very easy formula for a warm-weather event.
6. Salmon Striped Pajama Set With Tabi Flats and Silk Headscarf

In Los Angeles, she wore a salmon striped pajama shirt and trousers from her Savage x Fenty loungewear line, then took it out of sleepwear with a silk headscarf, bold jewelry and baby pink satin Maison Margiela Tabi flats, the split-toe shoe people either love or can't stand. Pajama sets work outside when the fabric has some weight; thin cotton pajamas look like you forgot to change. I'd always add one piece with structure, a good bag or real jewelry, to make the point that it's deliberate.
7. Cherry Red Monochromatic Vest and Cargo Pants With Yellow Bag

She made a strong case for cherry red with a matching vest and cargo pants in a tomato shade, broken up by a canary yellow Dior saddle bag and Tom Ford python-embossed pumps. Head-to-toe color is easier than it looks if every red piece matches closely; slightly different reds fight each other. The cargo pants keep the set practical, and the vest gives it shape. One bright contrast accessory, here yellow, is what makes a matching set look styled rather than uniform.
8. Distressed Leather Bomber Jacket With Bootcut Jeans and Sneakers

On her way to dinner in LA, she wore a distressed leather bomber over a plain top with bootcut jeans and clean sneakers, plus layered jewelry. Bootcut denim has been creeping back, and it's one of the most forgiving cuts I know because the slight flare balances the hip. A worn-in leather bomber is the right weight for cool spring evenings; I'd look for soft lambskin rather than stiff cowhide if you want that slouch. The relaxed jacket against the flared leg is what gives it the off-duty feel.
9. Oversized Khaki Shirt-Dress With Snakeskin Stiletto Boots

After her pregnancy, she was photographed in LA in an oversized khaki shirt-dress with a white contrast collar and sleeves rolled to the elbow. It sat well above the knee and worked on its own. Amina Muaddi snakeskin-embossed stiletto boots, goggle glasses, a red lip and a slick ponytail did the rest. Plain on top, dramatic at the ankle is a smart postpartum formula, because a loose shirt-dress skims a changing body while the boots carry the style. If short hems aren't for you, wear the same dress over slim trousers.
10. All-Black Tulle Top With Track Pants and White Puma Cleats

While pregnant, she wore an all-black look on a shopping trip in LA: a short-sleeve black shirt with a tulle tutu overlay, black nylon track pants with white piping and white Puma cleats. Layered necklaces, including her R pendant, a silver ball choker, gold rings and bracelets added shine. Track pants with a soft waist sit under a bump without pressure, and the tulle top covers it with volume rather than cling, which is why this stays comfortable and bump-friendly.
11. Cherry Pink Zip-Up Hoodie With Low-Slung Jeans and Timberland Boots

Running errands in Beverly Hills, she wore a cherry pink Savage x Fenty terry zip-up hoodie with a kangaroo pocket, low-cut blue jeans and classic wheat-colored Timberland boots. Pearl and gold necklaces and black frames with iridescent lenses lifted the basics. I like this as proof that one saturated color carries an outfit. Wheat boots are a spring-friendly neutral but scuff and stain easily, so I always waterproof the nubuck before the first wear.
12. Pink Gingham Trapeze Dress With Puma Speedcats and Mini Bag

In a softer mood, she wore a pink gingham trapeze dress from Loewe that skimmed over her bump and stopped at a short length. Light pink Puma Speedcat sneakers, a pink top-handle mini bag and a rose gold watch kept it sweet and sporty. A trapeze shape falls from the shoulders, so it fits through pregnancy without any waist to outgrow. For anyone not pregnant, the same cut can look boxy; I'd belt it loosely or choose a slightly shorter length to keep it from swamping you.
13. Sheer Crystal Mesh Coat Over White Corset Dress With Strappy Heels

For the Alaia spring show in New York, she wore a custom crystal mesh coat that slid off her shoulders and trailed behind her over a simple white corset mini dress, with a pearl-covered bodysuit underneath for coverage. Amina Muaddi crystal-trimmed strappy heels added more sparkle. The look nodded to a 1992 Alaia design first worn by Naomi Campbell. The reason it doesn't look like a costume is the plain white base. If you borrow a sheer statement layer, keep what goes under it very simple.
14. Butter Yellow Jacquemus Bathrobe Coat With Heels

During London's spring shows, she wore a custom Jacquemus butter-yellow coat cut like a bathrobe, wrapped and belted, as a dress with strappy heels. Soft butter yellow is easier to wear than lemon and suits more skin tones. The plush fabric makes it feel relaxed and expensive at once. You can copy this with any long belted coat in a soft pastel. I'd check that the wrap overlaps generously; a short overlap gapes when you sit or walk, which matters when the coat is all you have on.
15. Neon Pink and Yellow Pleated Maxi Dress With Lime Sneakers

She showed up in LA in a vintage Issey Miyake pleated maxi dress from 2001, swirled in neon pink and yellow. The heat-set pleats expand with the body, which is why it held her bump so well. Her shoes were chunky lime green Puma sneakers, a classic Rihanna move. Permanent pleated fabric is also very practical: it packs without creasing and washes easily. A pleated maxi with sneakers is one of the most comfortable ways I know to dress up during pregnancy.
16. Dark Green Leather Trench Belted as a Dress With Snakeskin Boots

In LA, she belted a dark olive AllSaints leather trench with an oversized collar and wore it as a coat dress, with very little underneath. Knee-high snakeskin Amina Muaddi stiletto boots, a black Bottega Veneta mini duffel and dark sunglasses sharpened it. A leather trench worn closed needs to be the right size through the shoulders, since you can't hide anything under a sweater. Leather is also warm, so this is a cool-evening outfit, not a hot afternoon one.
17. Light Wash Denim Jacket With Wide-Leg Jeans and Patchwork Dior Bag

On the way to dinner at Giorgio Baldi, she wore a light-wash Dior denim jacket with darker wide-leg Agolde jeans, a patchwork Dior logo bag and a fur shawl over her shoulders. Double denim works best with two clearly different washes, as here, rather than two almost-matching blues. The fur shawl is the third piece that turns it into an evening outfit. A faux-fur stole or even a soft wrap does the same job for a dinner out.
18. White Sculptural Crop Top With Low-Rise Column Skirt and Pointed Pumps

Back at Giorgio Baldi, she wore a custom white Maison Alaia two-piece: a hooded sleeveless crop top and a low-rise column skirt that showed her bump. Pointed white pumps, stacked silver bangles, big sunglasses and a mini white bag finished it. Low-rise skirts sit under a bump rather than across it, which is far more comfortable later in pregnancy. Bright white also looks crisp in spring light, though I'd check skirt opacity in daylight before wearing it out.
19. Cargo Pants With White Cami and Puma Speedcats

She paired an oversized navy blazer with dark gray cargo pants, a white cami and Puma Speedcat sneakers, a relaxed take on office dressing that also worked during pregnancy. The blazer stayed open, and the cargo pockets gave the tailoring an edge. I use this formula a lot: a structured jacket, relaxed trousers and a fitted base. It looks tidy but lets you move. Slim sneakers keep the feet light so the blazer doesn't overpower the outfit.
20. Pinstripe Suit With Red Button-Up Shirt and Gray Stilettos

Coordinating with A$AP Rocky, she wore a pinstripe suit with a belted blazer and wide-leg trousers, a red button-up shirt and gray stilettos. The menswear tailoring is sharp, and the red shirt changes the whole mood. If you own a dark suit, this is the cheapest update I can think of for spring: swap the white shirt for a strong red or cobalt one. Check that the trouser hem just brushes the top of your heel; wide-leg suits look sloppy when they pool.
21. Oversized White T-Shirt With Scarf-as-Skirt and Heels

She wore an oversized white T-shirt with a striped silk scarf wrapped and tied as a skirt, plus strappy heels and little jewelry. The trick spread quickly afterward. A large square scarf, about 90cm or bigger, wraps once around most hips with enough left to knot. Silk slips, so I knot it at the side hip and add a safety pin inside. It's best for a short evening out, not a day of walking, since the slit opens when you stride.
22. Rugby Sweatshirt With Pinstripe Blazer and Balenciaga Knife Pants

She layered a Vaquera rugby sweatshirt under an oversized grey peacoat, added a navy pinstripe blazer, then black Balenciaga knife pants with a sharp crease. White Amina Muaddi pointed pumps lightened the dark base. Three outer layers is a lot, and it only works because the trousers are slim; a wide trouser here would make the whole frame look heavy. If I'm copying it, I'd drop to two layers, sweatshirt and blazer, and keep the pointed white shoe.
23. Fenty x Puma Tracksuit With Fur Shawl and Heels

She took a black Fenty x Puma tracksuit with white piping and draped a fur shawl over the shoulders, then added very high heels. It's a clear example of her spring method: comfortable basics plus one luxurious piece that changes how the whole thing reads. For a dinner, I'd do the same with a well-fitted tracksuit in a matte fabric, which looks smarter than shiny nylon, and a wrap or long coat over the top.
24. Vintage Blue Pleated 3D Dress With Contrast Sneakers

She also wore a rare high-neck Issey Miyake pleated dress from the same 2001 season, this one in pink-orange with a striking 3D effect, with chunky sneakers in a contrasting bright color. Archival pieces can look stiff and precious, and casual shoes are the fastest fix. If you own anything dramatic or vintage, try it with sneakers before saving it for a special occasion; you'll wear it far more.
25. Black Alaïa Trench Coat With White Draped Trousers and Glove Pumps

At the 2025 CFDA Awards she wore a tailored black Alaia trench from the spring 2026 collection, cut asymmetrically and belted over a black turtleneck, with white draped wide-leg trousers and glove pumps. A cut-out at the leg added a flash of skin. Black and white keeps it graphic and easy to copy: a dark belted coat over light wide trousers. Glove pumps hug the foot, so I'd size them carefully; they pinch quickly if they're half a size too small.
Sheer Fabric and Low Waists With a Bump
So many of these looks were worn during pregnancy that they double as a maternity guide. A few things I tell anyone dressing a bump in this style:
Let waistbands sit under the bump
Low-rise skirts, track pants and soft jeans that sit beneath the bump stay comfortable far longer than anything that cuts across it. Stretch knit and elastic backs are your friends; rigid denim waists usually become uncomfortable early.
Choose fabrics that expand
Permanent pleats, jersey, rib knit and trapeze shapes all grow with you. Structured pieces with fixed seams at the waist, like fitted blazers buttoned closed, usually stop working by the middle months, but worn open they keep going.
Sheer needs a plan underneath
Sheer layers look good over a growing body because they show shape without squeezing it. Wear a smooth slip, bodysuit or swimsuit underneath so you aren't adjusting all day. Skin can feel warmer during pregnancy, and breathable sheer fabric helps.
Keep shoes stable
She often chose sneakers or flats with dramatic pieces. Balance can shift late in pregnancy, so a flat shoe with a dressy outfit is both the safer and the more current choice.
Borrow the Attitude, Not the Exact Outfit
Her spring wardrobe doesn't follow one script. She puts archive runway pieces with sweats, neon sneakers under couture and treats pregnancy as a reason to play with shape. What links all 25 looks is confidence with proportion, color and texture. Rather than copying any one outfit, take the habit: pair something tailored with something slouchy, something expensive with something casual, and add one unexpected element to each look.
