This summer looks louder than the last few, and I'm glad. The Pinterest Predicts report for 2026 points the same way I've seen wardrobes leaning: away from quiet, beige minimalism and toward clothes with some personality. Strong shoulders, sheer lace, poetic tailoring and icy blues are all getting saved and searched. A trend on a mood board and a trend you can wear to lunch are different things, though. Below are twenty of this season's ideas turned into full outfits, with my notes on fabric, fit and who each one suits, so you can tell which are worth trying for a holiday wardrobe and which belong on everyday rotation.

Testing a Trend With Clothes You Already Own
Before anyone buys a trend piece, I ask them to fake it from their own closet for a week. It costs nothing, and it shows quickly whether you'll actually wear it.
- Power shoulders: wear your sharpest blazer a size up from a friend, or with shoulder pads borrowed from an old jacket.
- Poetcore: a menswear blazer, a turtleneck tank and a ribbon at the collar are usually already in the house.
- Icy blue or butter yellow: try a scarf or tee in the shade near your face before committing to a dress.
- Brooches: raid a family jewelry box; mismatched pieces suit the trend better than a new set.
- Utility: a khaki shirt dress with a belt tells you whether you like the look before you buy a jumpsuit.
If you reach for the faked version three or four times, the real piece will earn its place. If it stays on the chair, you've saved the money.
1. 80s Power Suit Outfit Summer 2026

The strong shoulder is back. I'd start with an oversized double-breasted blazer in crisp white or cobalt, plus matching wide-leg trousers long enough to graze the floor in your shoes. A silk cami underneath stops it feeling heavy. Summer suiting lives or dies on fabric: polyester traps heat and shines, so I look for linen blends or lightweight tropical wool that breathes. A chunky gold chain, pointed slingbacks and a butter yellow top-handle bag finish it. It's power dressing with a nod to 80s nostalgia, and sculpted shoulders have been all over the summer runways. If you're narrow-shouldered, the padding balances the hips nicely; if you're already broad, choose softer padding.
2. Sheer Lace Dress Summer Outfit 2026

Lace has lost its shy reputation. A midi lace overlay dress in ivory or black over a plain slip shows the pattern and still covers. A slightly oversized linen blazer adds structure, and white leather derbies give it a tomboy note that keeps the lace from looking bridal. With lace, I always check the slip color against your skin first; a nude slip that's the wrong tone makes the dress look see-through in the wrong way. A small patent crossbody and gold hoops are enough. Lace trims and lace bandanas are getting saved a lot heading into summer, too.
3. Khaki Utility Cargo Outfit Summer 2026

Utility has grown up this year. A khaki cargo jumpsuit with a drawstring waist, plenty of pockets and a slightly tapered leg is the core of this outfit. Roll the sleeves, pop the collar, add tan strappy flat sandals. Jumpsuits fail on torso length, so I sit down in one before buying; a short body pulls at the shoulders all day. A woven market tote and a thin gold chain bracelet soften the workwear. It's an errands-and-markets outfit, and it fits the field-jacket and paleontologist moods people keep pinning.
4. Poetcore Vintage Blazer Outfit 2026

Poetcore is the literary look all over the boards right now: a relaxed vintage blazer in muted tweed or houndstooth over a white turtleneck tank, high-waisted pleated trousers in soft brown or charcoal, and a silk tie or thin ribbon bow. Tweed in summer sounds wrong, but a loosely woven, unlined vintage blazer is cooler than you'd think; heavy lined tweed is not, so check inside before buying. A leather satchel worn crossbody and block-heel loafers finish it, with a vintage fountain pen in the breast pocket as the ultimate poetcore accessory. Ties as accessories have been climbing in searches along with it.
5. Opera Aesthetic Maxi Dress Outfit 2026

The opera look is pure drama. Picture a floor-grazing liquid satin maxi in burgundy or midnight blue, with a draped cowl neck and a side slit for old-Hollywood movement. Satin that long needs the right underwear and good posture; it shows everything, so a smooth slip underneath makes a real difference. Metallic strappy heels, gold or crystal chandelier earrings and a velvet clutch in a jewel tone finish it. Wear your hair up to show the neckline. It's for sunset dinners and rooftop parties, and theatrical evening dressing is clearly catching on.
6. Icy Blue Monochrome Outfit Summer 2026

Frosted pastels are everywhere, and icy blue leads them. A pale knit tank tucked into fluid wide-leg trousers in the same shade, with a cropped linen jacket on top, makes a cool monochrome summer outfit. Icy blue is fussy about skin tone, in my experience. It's lovely on cool and neutral undertones, but on warm skin it can look grey, so warmer clients might reach for a softer aqua. White pointed mules, a silver cuff and sculptural earrings, and a pearly mini bag keep the tonal effect.
7. Brooch Embellished Blazer Outfit 2026

Brooches aren't just for vintage shops anymore. A cluster of mixed-metal brooches on the lapel of an oversized black or navy blazer makes a plain outfit look personal. Under it, a white ribbed tank and relaxed straight jeans with a raw hem. Pin brooches through the lapel's canvas, not just the top layer, or heavy ones drag the lapel forward. Floral, abstract or animal shapes all work, and mixing gold and silver looks collected over years. Black leather mules and a cognac hobo finish it. Searches for brooch styling ideas are climbing, men's included, and it's one of the cheapest trends to try.
8. Bubble Skirt Street Style Outfit 2026

The bubble skirt is more wearable than it looks. A midi bubble skirt in crisp cotton poplin or light taffeta, in lilac or mint, gets balanced by a fitted black knit tank tucked in. The volume sits at the hem, so it adds width at the knee. I'd keep this one for taller frames or pair it with a heeled sandal if you're petite, since a flat shoe under that much volume can make the leg look short. A white structured shoulder bag and slim oval sunglasses finish it. Sculptural skirts were all over the summer runways, and people are saving bubble skirt outfit combinations by the hundreds.
9. Fringe Hem Midi Dress Outfit 2026

Fringe is still going, and a sleeveless midi with a fitted bodice and a swinging fringe hem shows why. Choose sand, black or terracotta so the texture leads. Fringe tangles and catches on chair legs; a quick comb-through with your fingers after wearing keeps it hanging straight. Flat strappy sandals and a woven bucket bag keep it daytime. A long beaded pendant and thin bangles add a boho touch. Swap to a small clutch and metallic sandal for evening drinks. Fringe trims have been on major runways all season.
10. Vintage Denim Shorts Summer Outfit 2026

Lived-in denim shorts are the base of this outfit. Pick a relaxed, high-waisted pair in a light wash with a soft frayed hem. A crisp white button-down, two buttons open and sleeves rolled, is tucked in. A thin brown belt with a gold buckle defines the waist. Fit is everything with shorts: I check the back pockets in a mirror first, since pockets set too low make the seat look flat. Tan flip-flops or woven flats, a canvas tote and aviators complete it. It has that worn-for-years look people keep saving, even when the pieces are new.
11. Soft Linen Co-ord Outfit Summer 2026

Summer tailoring softens with a linen co-ord. A relaxed button shirt and matching wide-leg trousers in sun-faded terracotta, sage or sand, with the shirt open over a cotton tank, is one of the coolest outfits you can wear in heat. Linen creases, and on a set I think that's part of the charm; just make sure the trousers aren't see-through in sunlight. Flat leather thong sandals, a straw tote, tortoiseshell sunglasses and a thin gold anklet keep it simple for markets, coffee dates and travel days.
12. Color Block Set Outfit Summer 2026

Bold graphic color blocking is one of the louder trends pinned this summer. A cropped boxy top and an A-line mini, each in a different strong color, carry the look: cobalt with tomato red, or yellow with kelly green. Two brights only, never three. I'd also put the brighter color on the half of the body you want people to notice. White low-top sneakers and a white mini bag keep the rest quiet, and chunky acrylic hoops in one of the two colors tie it together. Good for festivals and city day trips.
13. Animal Print Midi Skirt Outfit 2026

Animal print is softer this summer. A leopard or zebra midi skirt in a silky bias cut is the statement, anchored by a fitted black knit or bodysuit. Bias-cut skirts show the line of your hips and underwear, so I'd try this one with smooth underwear and in daylight. Black strappy heels, a structured black shoulder bag, a gold cuff and small knot earrings finish it. With clean lines around it, the print looks polished rather than loud. It's one of the safest trends here because leopard behaves like a neutral.
14. Ribbed Tank Dress And Derby Shoes Outfit 2026

A ribbed tank dress is the simplest outfit on this list. A midi length in oatmeal, chocolate or charcoal skims the body and feels easy. The twist is the shoe: crisp white leather derbies instead of sandals, which gives the soft dress a cool contrast. Thin ribbed knits cling and show lines, so I look for a denser rib with some weight. A slouchy leather bag, slim cat-eye sunglasses and a chunky silver chain finish it. Derbies are being called one of the biggest shoe shapes of the season.
15. Crochet Cover-Up Beach Outfit 2026

Crochet keeps showing up this summer, and a crochet cover-up is the easiest beach-to-lunch piece. An open-knit maxi in cream or soft peach over a black one-piece, with flat leather slides and a big woven tote that holds sunscreen and a book. Crochet stretches when wet and heavy, so hang it to dry flat or over a rail, never on a hanger. Tortoiseshell sunglasses and a wide straw hat cover sun protection; beaded anklets and a shell pendant add a coastal touch. You can walk straight from the sand to a café in it.
16. Sheer Maxi Skirt And Blazer Outfit 2026

Sheer maxi skirts are the most-discussed piece of the season. A floor-length black or nude mesh skirt over a mini slip or tailored shorts, with an oversized single-button blazer in a matching tone. A thin black belt cinches where the blazer meets the skirt. Pointed kitten heels and a small structured bag make it event-ready. The pull between see-through and structured is what makes it modern. I'd always check what's underneath in direct sunlight before going out. Sheer skirts came down several summer runways and street style picked them up fast.
17. Polka Dot Midi Dress Outfit 2026

Polka dots are back, and the polka dot midi dress is the easiest way to try them. A flowing midi with an all-over micro dot in black and white or navy and cream, with a small puff sleeve, fitted waist and A-line skirt. Small dots read more grown-up and photograph more calmly than large ones. Woven leather flat sandals and a basket bag keep it daytime; pearl drops and a red lip lean into the vintage side. Throw a cropped cardigan over your shoulders on cooler evenings.
18. Utility Cargo Shorts Outfit Summer 2026

Cargo shorts look cleaner this year. A high-waisted khaki cotton pair with a relaxed but not baggy leg, with a fitted white ribbed tank tucked in and a thin black belt. Side cargo pockets add width at the thigh, so I'd look for flat, low-profile pockets if that worries you. Sporty slides or white low sneakers, a nylon crossbody and sporty oval sunglasses lean into the technical look. It's practical and still polished, and fits the field-jacket mood people are pinning.
19. All-White Summer Outfit Derby Shoes 2026

All white is a confident summer move, and white derbies make it current. Relaxed white wide-leg trousers and a matching sleeveless button blouse worn loose drape well. White leather derbies with a slight platform anchor it. With all white, I check the fabrics are the same white; a cream shirt next to bright white trousers looks dingy. A beige canvas tote and dark tortoiseshell sunglasses break it up, and a gold bangle and thin chain add warmth. White derbies have been named a shoe of the summer by many style writers.
20. Butter Yellow Slip Dress Outfit 2026

Butter yellow is one of the defining colors of the season, and a silky bias-cut slip dress in it captures the mood. It skims rather than clings and suits a lot of shapes. Pale yellow can drain fair skin near the face, which is why I like a thin white tee under the slip for daytime; the white sits between the yellow and the face. On its own it works for evening. Flat nude strappy sandals, a rattan crossbody, small gold hoops and simple makeup finish it. It's become the soft neutral of the season.
Which of These Trends Deserve Real Money
Some of these ideas are classics in a new coat; others will feel dated next summer. I sort them before a client spends anything.
- Worth investing in: a good white or navy blazer, linen sets, a bias-cut slip dress, leather derbies and a leopard skirt. They've come back many times and will again.
- Buy at a middle price: polka dots, fringe, lace dresses and color-block sets. They cycle every few years.
- Try cheaply or second-hand: bubble skirts, novelty brooches, sheer maxi skirts and very specific trend colors. Fun, but likely to feel dated fast.
Staying Cool in Summer Tailoring
Several of these looks put a blazer or trousers into hot weather, and the wrong fabric makes that miserable. I check labels before cut. Linen, cotton, seersucker and lightweight tropical wool all let air through. Polyester and heavy linings trap heat and show sweat.
An unlined or half-lined blazer is far cooler than a fully lined one. Wide-leg trousers move air around the legs, which slim cuts can't. And keep the layer underneath thin, a cotton tank rather than a knit, so the jacket can come off without ruining the outfit.
Try One Trend This Summer, Not Ten
Pinterest has a good record of predicting what people actually wear, and this summer covers a lot: eighties glamour, poetic tailoring, utility, sheer layers. What links them is personality. You don't need to try them all. I'd choose one or two that fit what you already own and build an outfit around them: shoes first, then the hero piece, then keep everything else simple. That's how a trend ends up looking like you rather than a mood board. Save what you like, try it on at home, and keep what you'd wear again.
